Currently....It's April

Outside my window...

Spring has definitely arrived in Kansas. The temperatures are much warmer. It was pretty dreary and cloudy most of today. Then we had a short thunderstorm and it poured. Now the sun is out and it is 60* Things are getting green and a few flowers are blooming.

Pondering..

I've been pondering the need to get the mower ready for mowing. So far I have mostly weeds. But one must keep the weeds cut to fit in with the neighborhood. It looks like a couple of my neighbors are going to be taking out some big trees. Both cottonwoods so they won't be missed by me!

Watching...

While I was doing my "zoo-keeping" this past 12 days, I watched quite a bit of Netflix. They don't have cable at their house so if I wanted to watch anything it had to be on Netflix. I did watch Seven Seconds Season One. This show is about a 15 year old black bicyclist who was killed in a hit and run by a white police officer. There were 8 episodes which take us through the cover-up and then the trial. Sad show which is reflective of some of the current state of affairs in this country. Sadly, I read there will not be a second season. It was a good crime drama. I also watched The Highwaymen which is a 2 hour drama starring Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson. This show was about the capture of Bonnie and Clyde. I enjoyed it as well. Then I also partook of The Ted Bundy Files. Wow! Amazing how this guy got by with what he did and the way he acted in court. If you like crime and documentaries this is another good one. What have you been watching?

Reading...

Two books I have recently finished are: The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides and Before We Were Yours, by Lisa Wingate. Both of these books were recomended by blog friends. I listened to The Silent Patient. I tried throughout the book to figure out the end story. I almost always do this. I was pretty surprised at who the "crook" was. Now I am thinking about listening to it again to see if I could have picked up some clues. Before We Were Yours is a novel based on a real life true story of an adoption home in Tennessee. I had never heard of this scandal and this was a pretty horrendous story. Both really good books.

Creating...

I am creating SPACE. Today I got rid of a bunch of stuff from an outdoor shed. Some of my 'adopted' grandchildren came over and took bicycles, badminton supplies, pool toys, some Adirondack chairs I didn't want anymore. Now I have a lot more room to move stuff out of my garage. Like lawnmowers and etc.

Learning...

Why is it so hard to let go of things you know you will never use again?? That is what I am learning to do!

Planning....

I'm planning a bit of a shopping trip over to Wichita and dinner out with Justin. One day this week. Haven't yet decided which day.

 A quote to share...

A final thought...

I want to get to the place where that is all I have to worry about. And I want a beach just like that to spend my days on. Who's with me?

  1. I wanted to thank you for all the lovely comments on my blog today. It made me happy that you visited. We watch a LOT of Netflix. We are loving the third season of Santa Clarita Diet, which is a hilarious zombie comedy starring Drew Barrymore and Timothy Oliphant.

  2. I need to catch up with Netflix when I'm on vacation (in 5 school days--not that I'm counting).

  3. So glad you enjoyed that book, Paula! I may go back, too, and see if there wasn't something I missed. We saw that Ted Bundy docudrama, as well … he was so good looking and charming. Brrrr! Really there's nothing on TV these days that floats my boat -- maybe The Voice. I didn't think I'd enjoy Kelly Clarkson, but she's a hoot!

    1. Yes, it is scary to think that such evil can look handsome. Made it easier to reign them in I imagine. I haven't watched the Voice this year

  4. We both had a successful clear out today. If it doesn't give you joy, send it on it's way.

  5. I read Before We Were Yours....what a horrendous situation. I'm afraid our system hasn't gotten much better as I'm learning through this process of adopting Marissa.

    1. I think you were who recommended the book to me. I shudder to think the system isn't much better.

  6. Joining you on that beach! I read that book Before We Were Yours. It was very good. I'm reading a book of Jodi Picoult's now called Leaving Time. It is a bit of a mystery which I don't usually like to read but I do like her writing and it is a good story so far.

I'm still on my no Netflix watching after I have binged on various shows for the past 18 months. I did want to catch the Ted Bundy one though. I've been busy with other things on the time I used to binge on Netflix so that's why I haven't been watching it as much.

Since I've moved so many times, its easy for me to let go of things. Hubby though is not the case and he likes to keep things just in case. But then I guess its a good thing. He needed something today that he remembered having from his parents that was still unopened and was able to find it so I guess there might be some validity to keep things. But what to keep and what to give away can be something to try to figure out.

  8. Boy, how I have missed you! So glad you dropped a post. I binge on Netflix stuff every night - no regular TV unless it is Dancing with the Stars or American Idol. I did see the Ted Bundy one and so creepy. He looked so darn normal - good looking - just goes to show you can't judge people by how they look. Actions - is what it is all about. I have been writing in the A-2-Z Challenge this month. Please stop in and visit. I miss our chats.

    1. After last year's fiasco I don't know if I will watch DWTS's again. I was so disgusted that the worst dancer won. I will come over and check out your A to Z

  10. I do love the beach and would love to be sitting right there along side you! I just finished reading a good book by Nicholas Sparks call Every Breath which I thoroughly enjoyed and it took place on a beach. I do know just how hard to let go of things. When I downsized I shed many a tear. I just finished up all 103 episodes of Parenthood on Netflix and shed a few tears at the end, just like I did the first time I watched them. Hope you enjoy your shopping trip, sounds lake fun !

    Love and hugs,
    'ma'

    1. I will look into that book. Yes, downsizing is hard. Just thinking of all I need to get rid of brings on the tears. And then I quit. I may never finish!!

  12. Ah, the worries of life. I had hoped that those eased somewhat.

  13. That beach photo looks just about perfect! I recently listened to an audio book and was pleasantly surprised that I really enjoyed it! It's called The Mountain Between Us. Excellent survival story (fictional, but still really good!). I love to watch Netflix, too. Don't think I could stomache watching Ted Bundy, though, although I'm sure it would be super interesting. I recently watched the Fuller House seasons. I was surprised how much I enjoyed that. Didn't really expect to watch all four seasons. If you need some good laughs, I'd recommend that.

    1. I'll look into that book. I love those kind. I don't think I can watch Fuller House now after the education scandal and she doesn't seem to want to take responsibility for it.

  15. Cleaning out your shed is no small feat. It sounds like you are on the clean up/get rid of stuff journey. It takes time. I downloaded a sample of The Silent Patient. I want to get to that place too. Life just keeps interfering, as it will.....

  16. I have The Highwaymen in my list to watch, it looks really good. I'll add The Ted Bundy Files, I love true crime books/tv. We downsized big for our move. Still have too much kitchen stuff for our cabinets so my son is going to build me a pantry for my small kitchen appliances. I collect them like some women collect shoes. I'm definitely with you, the beach is my happy place.

    1. I love true crime as well. I have too much kitchen stuff too but it is the easiest to downsize. No sentimental attachment.

  17. I'm with you. And getting rid of things is hard because we don't really ever correctly assess ourselves and our diminished abilities and strength. I'm fighting to keep active enough to keep my blood circulating. lol If, like me, you lived with the adage, "Waste not, want not" then you see the problem. It's time to let all that crap go! The craft mags can go to a quilting club, etc, etc...I'm taking mine to the local quilt club..

  18. I'm jealous... and happy for you at the same time. Spring has NOT arrived in Minnesota. But... I don't need to complain. It's been on the news and that's enough of that. Love the beach pic. Worrying about the tide reaching one's chair sounds like... bliss! I have to rake snow off my roof today and then shovel a bit in front of the house. The Townhome Assiciation got most of the driveway plowed, but there is an extra car parked there now ;-) and they just plow around it, so there is some snow to take care of. Spring on my patio looks a lot like winter on my patio right now. Good to visit your blog read your post!
