Outside my window...

It has been rain, rain, rain. The ditches are full and today the TV is full of flood warnings. And it is dreary!

Pondering..

Last week was depressing. I sometimes feel like our country is LOSING! What is all this winning "they" are talking about? It isn't happening here. Also, I have been listening to a podcast called "The Uncurated Life" and it is really a good podcast to help us think about what is important in life. For the most part, the person who does the podcast talks about planning and things planners are interested in. But she brings it around to telling us about 'the curated life', you know the one when you are looking at pictures on Pinterest and Facebook and etc. Those that aren't what the poster's life is REALLY like? Just what they are showing us. A bit of it! The picture that is 'set up' for us. Today Cindy talked about her struggles with a chronic disease and how it really affects her feelings. Good listen!

Watching...

With most of the new fall shows now on, I am watching 'too' much TV again. (Who am I kidding? I always watch too much TV). I have been watching Dancing with the Stars (haven't yet decided on who I am rooting for), Survivor (have really landed on who I want to win), This is Us, Grey's Anatomy, and How To Get Away with Murder. What are your favorites for the fall season? I am also finishing the second season of Ozark on Netflix.

Reading...

Who has time for reading when they are watching too much TV, right? LOL! I started a new book Between Black and White by Robert Baily. It is a legal thriller. The second in a three part series. (I read the third one first) and I am glad to get a lot of things cleared up. I would read them in order if you are interested in legal thrillers.

Learning...

I am , once again, joining a group of ladies on Facebook in doing this Bible study! I enjoy digging into the Bible and learning with a group is fun too. Do you do Bible studies? Have any favorites? I think I have asked this before but never hurts to ask again.

Planning....

I don't really have any plans going on right now. Harley comes over and we work on wedding planning sometimes. But we are only throwing around ideas right now as the wedding will not be until fall of 2020. That seems so far off. But it will probably be here before we know it.

Listening....

I talked about the podcast above. I have several podcasts I listen to on a weekly basis. Usually at night when I am trying to fall asleep. Some help me fall asleep and some keep me awake. LOL! I am also listening to the Audible book Ghosted: A Novel by Rosie Walsh. I wish I had downloaded the book instead of the audible because it is an Enlish reader and sometimes I find it hard to understand. But I will persevere. Thank you Kwizgiver for the recommendation.

What's in the kitchen...

Today, in the kitchen, is a crockpot of Beef Stew simmering for the rest of the week's lunches. I love soup. That is about the only thing I really like about colder weather.

  2. Sounds like you've been busy. I'm still sorting vacay pictures. Had no idea it would take me this long. LOVE your last photo and have seen it and variations on it a lot these past couple of weeks. It's sooooooooo true. Way too many people didn't vote last time. I don't understand that. I know there are religious groups that don't vote, but don't think that's the biggest chunk of non voters.

Your mantel looks very nice. I never seem to get around to decorating for any holiday but Christmas.

Swing by for a visit. We all need distractions from the news.

    1. No I am not all that busy! We do need to take responsibility and vote. No vote, no right to complain! I will swing by for a visit.

  3. I'm loving your Fall mantle … the upside down terracotta planter is a great idea! Podcasts and I aren't acquainted just yet, but this sounds intriguing. So true about Facebook content being staged, much like an open house. (Guilty here!) Despite my intentions, it's always a good idea to focus on what's Really Important.

PS - After several years absence I tuned into Grey's premiere, but came away disappointed. I wonder if its the writing gone stale, or me. Probably me, lol!

    1. You recognized that planter, huh? I hear this will be the last year for Grey's. I still enjoy it but not nearly as much when Meredith had Derrick!!

  4. These are my favorite posts. You are such a good writer and so well organized, it's really fun to read about your daily life. I can imagine it must be hard with all that rain and the beef stew sounds perfect. I don't watch much TV, right now I watch DWTS and Poldark and specials that are of interest to me.

    1. Thank you Inger. We are still getting lots of rain and now there is flooding. I was sad to see Val voted off last night!

  5. It's been pretty cloudy here this weekend, and then raining all afternoon and evening today, so I'd say quite dreary. But we've been celebrating a Canadian Thanksgiving, so it's been a good weekend, despite the weather. I enjoyed reading your post. I am only really watching 2 shows 'religiously' right now -- The Voice and This is Us. I find that if I watch too many shows, then my reading really gets sidelined. Right now I'm reading The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah. As for Bible studies, I'm not really following one, but I'm using a great app for my Bible reading called Read Scripture. It includes creative animated videos to explain context, etc. Very helpful! Loved your quote... so true!!

    1. My reading has definitely taken a hit lately. I just can't seem to stay focused. I will look into Read Scripture. Sounds interesting.

  6. I'll have to look into that term curated life. Haven't heard of it before. I can only listen to a podcast if I'm exercising, otherwise for some reason I zone out of them, LOL. Yum on the beef stew, always a fall favorite! I've been watching Atypical on Netflix and really enjoying it, but maybe I can relate to it having a child on the spectrum. Its on hold right now, but I'm doing a 40 days devotional of Jennifer Kennedy Dean called "Altar'd." Enjoying that. (Its on hold because we're taking a class at church that has daily homework assignments so I'm doing those during my Bible reading time.)

    1. I sometimes find that I am zoning out on podcasts too! I just play them again. I will add Atypical to my list of what to watch.

  7. Thank you for defining a "curated life" - that makes sense. I live that. living overseas, in "exotic" Vietnam, sometimes I think the things we post from everyday life seem like showing off. Legitimately, like everyone, there are struggles, too. But why show them? I bought a chair yesterday. Woo-hoo! We have no dresser and still live half-way out of suitcases! Woo-hoo!

There, I just un-curated my life for you.

Mind you, when snow starts falling in the States, I will be freely sharing pictures of palm trees and beaches, and bragging about our non-freezing temps!

    1. Ha! Ha! Behind me in my mantle picture is a pile of laundry. That is my uncurated life. I like that you bought a chair. They are talking snow today in western Kansas YIKES

  8. I have a few pod casts I sometimes listen to - they are mostly related to knitting - but they mostly stack up un-listened to on my Podcast catcher on my phone because I listen to so many audiobooks that I can collect faster than I can listen to because I bing watch TV on Netflix and Amazon ... hahahaha! This is the description of a person with "no life." No matter. I am a happy camper. My life is also filled with many wonderful diversions - like friends, a grand daughter, grand dogs and many wonderful things. So when I get depressed about the state of our country (which is depressing ALL THE DARN TIME) I just back away - remind myself I WILL VOTE and I focus on the list of stuff above and I feel better (until the next dysfunctional and stupid thing that happens with Potus and I get depressed all over again - but I then look at my list .... and repeat ... and repeat ... and repeat!) Hahaha. We will survive! I feel confident of that, dear blog friend.

    1. I must have 'no life' either. Or maybe it is finally having a life. We get to decide, don't we? I agree this country is a mess and listening to that idiot in the White House can be so depressing. I hope we have a country left when he is done with it.

  9. Dark dreary days, especially since the days are shorter now, always tend to make me sleepy. I haven't found much to be interested in on TV, but I think I'll try out yours and Betty's recommendations and see how that goes. I've been reading more and more. I get free books from Amazon on my kindle and can usually find one or two I like. We are still hot for a few more days but then we're to cool down like you. I did make a pot of stew a few weeks ago and also some chili, they are perfect for fall and taste very good since I haven't had them for awhile. Summer cooking and fall cooking are two very different things. I haven't done a Bible study in quite awhile, but do keep up with daily meditations and devotions. There are several I follow on line every morning. I always enjoy the ways you decorate your mantle. Happy Fall !

    1. It is really cool here today. In fact, they are talking snow in the western part of the state. Too early for that in my opinion. I enjoy coming to see what you are up to daily.

  13. Love reading your catchups. Yes it can be gloomy if the weather is constantly dreary. Hope you get some sunshine soon. Soup sounds great. We have Strictly Come Dancing in the UK and it's one of my favourite shows. We've just had week 3 so plenty of shows to come.

I’m taking a break from blogging. It seemed like the only way to calm down because of being so angry.
