Currently....

Outside my window...

I think fall has arrived in Kansas. Today has been mostly cloudy with occasional brief episodes of the sun shining. The temp right now is only 69* Tomorrow is supposed to be just like today. How is the weather in your neck of the woods? Has fall arrived?

Pondering..

Sometimes my heart just gets too full to keep pondering all that is going on in this world. Today I watched the President of the United States get laughed at by members of the United Nations and he thought it was okay!! Where has the dignity of the office gone?? Are any of you following the Kavanaugh debacle? I don't know how to applaud Bill Cosby being sentenced for the crimes he has committed and still see a president who has not paid for his crimes against women. And then we are going to watch Kavanaugh be voted into the Supreme Court even though he has allegations about sexual assault.A full investigation is needed. I'm sorry but I believe the women. Okay! Okay! I really am not a political blog. But I am frustrated with what is happening to this country.

Watching...

I started watching Dancing With the Stars last night. It was a good start for the season. I haven't picked a favorite yet. Are you watching? And this week I will watch the end of Big Brother and the beginning of Survivor. I love reality TV. I don't care who wins Big Brother. I just haven't picked a favorite this year. I have almost finished the Netflix binge of Orange is the New Black. Interesting! I have lots in the lineup for this winter too.

Reading...

My reading has fallen by the wayside to say the least. I just finished the last two I mentioned here: Women Who Fear and The Restless Wave. I think I'll look into a suspense novel. Or a good mystery. What are you reading right now?

Creating...

I have created my October bullet journal pages and I really like them. It was fun and creative. Here is a sneak peek:

October calendar pages
my mood and gratitude trackers
the monthly pages I did something different this month and added dutch doors
a peek at my fall mantle

Thankful...

I have so much to be thankful for. I need to never forget! Two weeks ago the agency my son Justin works for in Wichita (he is a deputy sheriff for those who don't know) had a deputy killed in the line of duty. It was a devastating week for us. He was a good friend to Justin. And it made this mother's heart hurt for another law enforcement mother. And those scary thoughts of "what if it was my son?" couldn't help but to rear their ugly head. It was good to see how the community came together for Deputy Kunze and he had a most wonderful send off. I hope the good feelings will continue and people will see how important it is to "BACK THE BLUE."

What's in the kitchen...

I had company for the past two weeks so I mostly cooked all meals at home. She was here to take classes during the day and then was here in the evenings. But mostly she studied. It is soup time of the year. I will be sharing one of my favorite potato soups with you soon. I made a huge pot yesterday and Harley stopped by and took some home with her. I still have enough for a couple of lunches this week.Yummy!

A quote to share...

A final thought...
I didn't do a very good job of blogging this month but I know it will get better as the cold weather begins. I've missed you all and I need to make my way around to your blogs and hope to welcome you again to mine.

And today is National Register to Vote day!

  1. As you know, I am heartsick over what is happening in the political arena. I don't know who is lying but I do know an investigation should be conducted.

    1. I think the simple fact they refuse to do an investigation tells me all I need to know. What are they afraid of??

  2. Always good to register to vote and then to get out and vote. I can't remember the name of it, but I'm reading a memoir written by the daughter of Jewish people during WW2. She didn't know they were Jewish and had survived the Holocaust until years later when she started investigating some things. Parents were very closed lip about their history. Interesting read! Cooling down a bit here but still warm but we won't get fall until the middle of October :)

  3. In spite of a day in the low seventies, it is fall in Ohio. The trees remain green, but not for long.

  4. Mood pumpkins? I love it! … I need me a bullet journal with mood pumpkins! :)
Darn. I remember your saying something about company coming, and was hoping it would be Darian and his new baby.

There was a police shooting (ambush) just this weekend in Selma. I'm totally aghast what's happening, but totally "BACK THE BLUE"!

  5. It's cooled off the last week or so, but it's supposed to warm up again tomorrow. I pulled out my long pants. But I'm still wearing sandals...

I'm supposed to be beta reading something for another blogger. Bad reader. Lately I haven't felt like knitting at all. Perhaps tonight...

    1. We are getting cooler but with a warm up in sight next week. Won't be like summer though. I just haven't felt the tug to dive into reading again.

  8. I always enjoy reading your Life List and catching up on what is going on with you. Like you, we too have cooler days. And with them has come a lot of rain here. It sounds as If you are like me and you like to have company and enjoy cooking for more than just one. I love potato soup and am looking forward to seeing your recipe. The news is something I try to stay away from, it only brings me down. Sorry to hear of your son's friend. It would be devastating especially for those that knew him. I pray every day for our troops, and that includes, our Police Officers, Firefighters, and Paramedics and EMT’s. Your mantle is very welcoming. Hope you have a good week!

  10. It's still hot where I live. Looking forward to less humidity.

Another political thing that disturbed me was when Michelle Obama was on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and danced to the song Uptown Funk. Not very 1st Lady like.

I'm rooting for Bobby Bones to win DWTS. I can't wait to see who wins Big Brother, and I'm excite to watch Survivor again. I recently finished binge watching all episodes of The Andy Griffith show. Now I'm on season 1, episode 5 of Anne With An "E".

So sad about Justin's deputy friend. Praying for his family and friends.

I love homemade potato soup, yum! I'm looking forward to you sharing your recipe.

    1. I'm sorry if I laughed about your Michelle Obama remark. Did you know Melania Trump posed nude. But let's not go there. And I am NOT rooting for Bobby Bones due to his Trump connection. I do like the idea of watching Anne with an E. I will check it out.
