June Favorites

I cannot believe we just completed another month in the year 2018. Time just keeps on truckin', doesn't it?

Oh let's talk about my favorites for the month of June.

This month I have fallen into love with some of my old favorites. I have been eating more popcorn. Just the plain old microwave kind. Nothing new here. But I like a bowl of corn at bedtime.

While shopping at my favorite place to shop, The Dollar Tree, I bought a package of Twizzles. No, not the strawberry kind. But the black licorice kind. Yum! In love all over again.

I don't usually watch The Late Show with James Corden but I do love his car pool karaoke segments. A You Tube friend recommended watching this one. I grew up when the Beatles were getting famous in America. I wasn't a big fan then (because I was country, when country wasn't cool) but I do like them now. The older stuff. We got pretty good at singing along with the Beatles when we went through our Rock Band on the Wii phase at my house. Take the time to listen. I need some tissues!!!!

Years ago, on a Mother's Day, I was given a gorgeous orchid. And this year, on Mother's Day, Harley surprised me again with an orchid. And they are both blooming. And both are my favorite plants this month.

From years ago

From this year

I am so glad to live in a time where we have air conditioning. Aren't you? I'd be remiss if I didn't say that I am loving my A/C this month. And all the fans: ceiling and floor alike. But I dread that bill.

So as you can see there is not a lot of products in the favorites this month. More of falling in love (or staying in love) with old favorites. What are you enjoying right now? Do you have any new or old favorites?

  2. Pass the tissues, won't you? OMG, Paula!!! I was doing OK until "Hey, Jude", then came the water works. Oh, I was such a fan of the Beatles when they first exploded on the American scene. (Quite obnoxious, most likely, lol.) George was always my favorite, but I loved Paul's exuberance here.

  3. I'll vote for A/C and licorice twizzlers. Let me add: Bruce Springsteen reading the Autobiography of Bruce Springsteen.

    1. Sounds interesting. I wasn't much of a Bruce fan in the day.

  4. I love my new IKEA clock. I think that's my favorite thing last month. And yesterday I just got some cookies from the Grocery Outlet that may be my new favorite thing.

  6. Such pretty orchids! My mom liked black licorice :) AC is definitely a necessity here so I'm always thankful for it, but I always cringe too when it cuts out (but the good news is we are going solar this year so next year will be a lot less expense, plan to blog about it when it happens :)

  7. We watched that video just the other day. I loved his story about "Let it Be". I never realized "mother Mary" was his own deceased mom.
I have to say, I'm using the a.c. less, now that I live in the tropics. It's weird! But middle of the day, most days, if we open the big bedroom window (sliding doors to nowhere) and the front door of the apartment, we get a fantastic ocean breeze. I feel truly blessed by my acclimation here, because I can't stand the heat!

    1. I didn't know that about Mother Mary either. Such a good video it was. I'm happy you are adjusting so well.

  8. I used to like the red licorice but now with osteoporosis I have to pass it by. It interferes with the absorption of calcium. Had to give up soda pop too because of the phosphorous affecting the bones. Sigh

  9. I do love popcorn and make my own and I like Dollar Tree too. They always have something new to surprise me with. My new favorite this month is iced coffee. I've been drinking it more than tea lately. It is very refreshing. I put a little coffee creamer flavored with caramel in it and love it. Yes, we are fortunate to have air condition, but it does cost us dearly. Now on to July and the dog days of Summer!

    1. I haven't really gotten into the iced tea this summer like I usually do. I love peach tea and haven't even had much of that.

  10. My mom loved popcorn and ate some just about every night as far back as I can remember. She passed the love on to me although I've cut back lately. I'm not a fan of licorice but my youngest son likes it and it's my daughter in law's favorite candy. I love a/c, couldn't manage without it. I tried a Taco Bell Spicy Tostada for the first time the other day, on the recommendation of a friend. YUM!
