As I told you in my final Currently of 2017 Darian suffered a health problem while visiting his girlfriend at Christmas. Upon returning to the post he was put through a battery of tests. Including an echocardiogram. He has a heart murmur. How this was missed all these years is beyond me. But that is his final diagnosis. He is now awaiting a Medical Board of Review from the Army to see how he proceeds with his Army career. Other than the one episode of "fainting" he has not had any other symptoms. But the Army will err on the side of being safe, I'm sure. So we await that news.
Also as we wait on that news we have gotten other news. Darian became engaged over the holidays. And although we do not have a wedding date we do know there will be a baby coming in May. This grandma is not happy with the progression of these affairs, but it's not the end of the world. Time will tell what the future holds for all of us. We will be happy to have all of my blogging family and friends continue to pray for Darian and his now 'future family.'
On to the favorites!

My first favorite of the month came to me free from Grove Collaborative. I've told you before how much I like using this service. It is a Mint Argan lip remedy. I have found it to be extremely hydrating and nourishing to my winter chapped lips. And free is always a plus.

Next, is Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream. Have you ever used this?
I love it. I have gone through several tins over the years. I've used other cuticle creams but this is, by far, my favorite. I think it might be because I love the smell of lemon. Give it a try.
I am in love with my new phone case. I tried to find a picture of the one I have but I can't. This is the same brand. But mine has pink glitter. I spend a lot of time moving the glitter around. It is so mesmerizing. I feel like a teenage girl. LOL!! Anyway, I like it. So there!!
Lastly, I have a favorite song.Such power in these lyrics. I am a 'champion of women' and I love this song. We have a special love for Carrie Underwood at our house. And it is because of a funny little story. When Harley was about 6-7 years old she loved the song Jesus Take The Wheel. She was also just learning how to print. So, she copied the words of this song into a notebook. For a long time she thought she was the original 'song writer' because she had written the words down. We tease her about it to this day. Good thing she is a good sport. Anyway, enjoy my new favorite song....
That's is folks. My favorites for January and a bit of catch up news. What is going on with you?? What is a favorite for you this month??
Goodness--you've got a lot going on!
ReplyDeleteAlways! As you know, having teens means life is full!
DeleteSo glad to hear your awful head cold is finally gone. I don't know if it's a casualty of growing older, but it felt like our bugs would never go away. Yes, I love Burt's Bees cuticle cream (and lip balm) - when I remember to use it!
ReplyDeleteI was just wondering about Darian the other day. Can one just develop a heart murmur out of the blue? Scary that it wasn't discovered before this! 'Just a hunch, but I'm thinking this new baby may be the BEST thing since sliced bread. Of course; you are all in my prayers.
Yes, you can develop a heart murmur out of the blue. Much less heard of. I am not sure why his never showed up before. I don't share the BEST thing since sliced bread yet. Maybe I will someday.
DeleteI am so sorry about Darien's health issues, but he has good medical hands to sort it out. And, as my mother used to say, long, long ago, the first baby comes anytime; the rest are nine months.
ReplyDeleteMy step dad used to say the same thing Joanne.
DeleteHi Paula - these things happen - let's hope it's for the best in the long term. Sorry about his medical issues ... still at least it's been picked up and he'll be looked after. Your other goodies - look useful ... so enjoy them - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteThat's what I am praying and hoping for Hilary....the best in the long term!
DeleteGlad you're feeling better! Sorry to hear about Darian's health issue. Congratulations to you all on the baby. Maybe out of order but babies make the world brighter. Will keep you all in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteThank you Vicki!
DeleteI for one am definitely going to look for and buy that cuticle cream. Mine are in terrible shape. I will be praying for Darian. Big changes coming in his life for sure and your's too. I'm just glad we have said good bye to January and are a month closer to Spring. It wasn't a bad month, but the cold and snow seemed to go on forever. We still have some of that but there is now a light at the end of the tunnel.
ReplyDeleteWe have gone back to the very bitter cold here in Kansas.
DeleteCongratulations! You will be a Great Grandmother! I know the younger generation frustrates me too, being old fashioned Marriage then babies in that order. I don't get it. My granddaughter is planning a wedding in 2019 when Mikey will be two...go figure.
ReplyDeleteI love the Burts Bees Cuticle butter I use it all the time.
I use Dawn infused Paper Towels to do dishes and throw them away each time I use them...germs are our enemy around here:(
I just wish he knew the girl better. Maybe that would make me feel happier about the whole situation. I don't understand the need for the "big wedding" once they have kids. Girls around here do it that way too. I have never heard of Dawn infused Paper towels. I must watch for them.
DeleteI'm sorry to hear about Darien's heart murmur. I hope that everything will work out for him. I love all your favorites and will check out the Grove. My January favorite must be my Amarillys, watching it grow and now bloom. Lot's of fun!
ReplyDeleteI didn't plan an Amaryllis this year and I miss it. I must plan better next year!
DeleteI've seen that phone case. You won't be surprised to know that I saw it at school. But we're all teen girls inside, aren't we?
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Darian on the future family. It may seem like bad timing now, but you'll love having a great grandchild. And good thing they found that heart murmur. Who knows what might have happened if they hadn't found it?
I hope you are right Liz. About heart murmurs and babies
DeleteLots going on in your world. I'm sorry to hear about Darian's health issues but better to know and deal with it. The coming baby must have been a shock but hopefully by the time baby arrives things may be a bit more settled and of course you will love it. Hope you're over the gout for a while at least and the weather improves. Great song!
ReplyDeleteYes, the baby was a shock. I hope I am over the gout forever. Drinking my cherry juice.
DeleteOne of my daughters became a mother at 19, far too young but would I take back her child? Hope the great grand baby is nearby for you to visit.
ReplyDeleteI was diagnosed with a heart murmur when I was young but somehow it went away. Maybe I was misdiagnosed. The winter here in Michigan has been especially brutal this year. Waiting for spring.
No, the baby is not going to be nearby. I had my first when I was 20. I got married at 18. Times were different then. Yes, spring needs to hurry up!
DeleteWow, this is what happens when I wait 5 days to be in touch with you!! First, I will be offering up prayers for Darian's health problems and that he figures out what his future will hold without the military assistance. Second, congratulations on the upcoming nuptials but Third and most importantly, congratulations on the expected bundle of joy. Yes, I know it is not the ideal situation but babies are always a blessing and you are going to be a wonderful Grandma Great!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Wendy!
DeleteI am sorry for the health issues of Darain hope he will get good treatment and be better soon amen
ReplyDeleteglad that your cold is over my friend!
Thank you so much!
