Outside my window...
It's cloudy and cold here. 25 right. Supposed to get some snow later.
Pondering
I just can't ponder too much right now without getting my blood pressure going high. So for today I will let it go!
Watching...
Did you all watch This Is Us after the Super bowl? I was kind of let down after all the hype. I wonder if this show will be enduring now that we know about Jack's death. And all the kids are grown and apparentlyl damaged in one way or another by it. I can't see it staying as interesting to me in the future. I already am not as drawn into the second season. What do you guys think?
Reading...
I'm currently listening to The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom. And I'm reading 52 Small Changes: One Year to a Happier, Healthier You by Brett Blumenthal. It gives you one new habit for every week of the year.
Creating...
I haven't been very creative so far this year. I don't really know if I am ever very creative. I haven't even put up my February mantle yet. Don't know that I will at this point. Might just wait to see what the remainder of the month brings.
Learning...
I've been learning that sometimes you just have to let nature take its course when it comes to your health. You can't hurry what doesn't want to be hurried. The last episode of gout took it's time to leave. But I am finally better.
Planning....
My plans have to do with getting a master bedroom cleaned. WOW!
Drinking....
I have started to challenge myself with drinking more water. My goal is for 64 ounces of water a day. Means I don't get far from the bathroom. But I hear that will slow down as my body adjusts to my drinking more water. I have been needing to do this for sometime. We do not drink soda/pop in this house anymore!! YAY, us!!
What's in the kitchen...
Harley and I have been on a salad kick lately. I've been buying those little prepared salad bowls at the grocery store. I know they are more expensive but I feel like I waste less so in the long run they work out. We have soup and salad, sandwich and salad, or chicken/beef and salad. Oh so good!
A quote to share...

A final thought...
We have celebrated two birthdays recently. Darian turned 20 on January 31. He got a pass and spent it with his fiancée. And Harley turned 18 on February 4. We ate at Red Robin with Justin and Paige (and Justin's lady, Heather). Was a good time with bottomless French fries!
Glad to hear your bout of gout (nice rhyming) has past! And yes, yay you for not drinking any more soda!
ReplyDeleteFrom the glimpse you gave us of your bullet journal, I would say you are definitely creative!
I am liking to try to be creative in my BuJo!
DeleteNice photos. I still have my winter decorations out and if it doesn't stop snowing soon, I'll be looking at them until spring.
ReplyDeleteI still have winter up too!
DeleteWell done, ditching the soda. It will be so beneficial to your health. I hope your don't fall back into the addiction, ever. Laura gets a package of salad. There are about four good sized servings per package.
ReplyDeleteThat is how I buy it too most of the time.
DeleteSo sorry you haven't been feeling well. It's the dark of the year. Resting is probably for the best right about now.
ReplyDeleteYes!!
DeleteLoving these images, Paula ... especially that one of you and Justin. Belated birthday wishes to Darian and Harley. Red Robin has become my favorite 'go-to', I think on account of their onion ring tower. (Simple pleasures, lol)
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, can't get excited about salad until the temps hit 100. I do need to start drinking the 64-oz. water regimen. In fact, I've still dandelion root tea bags sitting, mocking me, in the pantry. (Supposed to aid in weight loss.)
We saw the onion ring tower but we didn't order it. Looked yummy. I love onion rings. I had not heard that of dandelion root tea. But you certainly don't need to worry about weight loss!
DeleteI'm trying to drink more water. Winter time is hardest for me but I'm getting at least 8 ounces of plain water in. I tend to drink my liquid in coffee and tea form. I know ... not good. Glad your gout is leaving. I hope I never have it ... sounds very painful.
ReplyDeleteIt was very, very painful this time around. Probably more so because of it causing me so much trouble to walk
DeleteI love that quote about the February face and can relate to it too. Snow and more snow and still very cold here. I'm trying to think Spring !
ReplyDeleteWe have a taste of spring today and back to winter tomorrow. Dang!
DeleteGlad to hear you're feeling better and well done on the water drinking. I have spells of trying but I never seem to make it a habit. Hope you enjoyed the birthday celebrations.
ReplyDeleteWe enjoyed celebrating Harley's birthday very much. This is the first one of Darian's I missed. :(
DeleteI loved Sunday's This Is Us! I thought for sure he died in the fire, and then KNEW it when he went back in the house, but then was thrown for a loop when he didn't. Then I was shocked to find out what really happened. The show is still really good to me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for mentioning 52 Small Changes: One Year to a Happier, Healthier You and linking to it. I just got it.
Glad you're feeling better.
In 2015 I set a goal to drink 80 oz. of water a day and I did make quite a few trips to the potty in the beginning. It does ease up after your body adjusts. Sometimes I don't reach the daily goal, but most days I do.
I love salads so when my son orders pizza I order wings and a salad.
That's a cute quote.
Great photos! Happy Birthday to Darian and Harley.
I hope you enjoy the book. It's all stuff I knew but this breaks it down to easy reading!
DeleteFiancee? Where have I been? When did this happen? Congratulations to you all.
ReplyDeleteYou'll have to read backwards Wendy!
DeleteI am still very much drawn into This Is Us...its not as good as Parenthood, but it reminds me alot of that. Love all your photos!!! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to look into Parenthood!
DeleteI did not see that installment of this is us yet, I have it on the dvr. You have had a busy month with birthdays and all, and the balloon release...you quote says it all...been a grey kind of Jan/Feb up here too...not much sun.
ReplyDeleteGout sucks, my Dad gets it, he takes those cherry pills and that seems to help....and prednisone.
Take good care of you! :)
I haven't heard of the cherry pills. I will check that out. The juice is okay but very tart!
