Wednesday's Wonderings-A Life List

Outside my window...

We have gotten a bit cold here in Kansas. Still sunny and bright but the temperature is only 44* here right now. And will get down to 19* tonight. I guess winter is going to arrive after all.

Pondering..

Oh my gosh what more is there to ponder. Just listened to Trump declare the capital of Israel is Jerusalem. I always thought it was. He is just stirring the flames. How many leaders from other countries told him not to do this? He doesn't listen to anyone. And, in my opinion, he's only trying to deflect attention away from Mueller's investigation. It might be starting to get a little warm for our President.

Watching...

All of my favorite shows are getting ready for a winter break. When did that become necessary?? I have not watched anymore episodes of Grey's Anatomy on Netflix either. I guess I needed a winter break. It just seems to be getting "tired" for me at the moment.

Reading...

I'm reading When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi. It's the January book selection for the book club I participate in online. I finished listening to Twisted River and I am now listening to Slouching Towards Bethlehem by Joan Didion. It is a collection of essays written in the 1960's by reporter Didion. Good, so far.

Planning....

I am planning to finish decorating for Christmas. The tree is done. I'm working on the mantle. Then the table. Then that's enough!

What's in the kitchen...

Monday...We had ChickFilA
Tuesday...Chili
Wednesday...Salisbury steak
Thursday...Chili dogs
Friday...Stuffed Chicken breasts
Saturday...undecided
Sunday...undecided

A quote to share...

A Final thought...

Prayers for this great country of ours! What more is there to say??

  1. Did you hear about the Joan Didion documentary? It came out recently (like in the last couple months).

As for the TV shows... It takes roughly 10 days (maybe 12) for an hour show to produce one episode. But episodes air every 7 days. (And this includes the actors and crew are working 16+ hour days. There's an issue with them not getting enough sleep. There have been news stories on this. People have died driving sleepy.)

They start working on the fall season in the middle of summer, but they never quite get fully caught up. They need breaks or they need to show repeats periodically. Rather than do the repeat thing, they've made each part of a season an event. Kind of taking a necessity and turning it into a selling point.

    1. I had never even heard of Joan Didion until this book popped up in my Audible newslater. And it was cheap. I like what she has written. I will look into the Netflix documentary. I understand all about how hard those actors work!! LOL! As for driving sleepy....many of our cops, doctors, and nurses are doing that everyday. And they don't make anywhere near as much money as these actors do.

  2. We used to have a trustee here who was quite irrational. Turned out he had been suffering from undiagnosed brain cancer. Suddenly his behavior made sense. Not sure what is going on with the idiot in DC.

    1. I don't know if I am ready to blame Trump's problems on a brain tumor. I think it is more likely stupidity, greed, and pure evilness.

  5. Because of major highway 'improvements' (huh?) are taking place through March, I'm teetering on the brink of getting an audio book.... or two. My normal 60-minute evening commute's best time so far is 90 minutes.
Love that quote by Dr. Seuss!

  6. Tel Aviv was the capital of Israel. I guess in the previous 4 Democrats running for office, they had in their platform that they would change Israel's capital to Jerusalem, but then when elected did not do so. Trump I think said he would do it and followed through with it. There's more with who is claiming the land where Jerusalem belongs to. Hubby who is very informative about such things filled me in. The Bible mentions in several places to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. I think it holds a very special spot in God's heart :)

I agree, prayers for our country and a revival is needed!

    1. According to my research Jerusalem became the capitol of Israel in 1948. Maybe I am wrong. But needless to say it is nothing but Trump trying to stir the pot that he did this yesterday. Many many other heads of nations implored him not to do it. But, as we all know, Trump does what is best for Trump. I am curious to know what he got out of this. I am sure there was a behind the scene deal. After all, he is the deal maker! :)

  7. Every country has it's own right to choose its capitol. Israel said Jerusalem and it seem many of these so called leader said it had to stay Tel Aviv. Since 1995 Clinton, Bush and Obummer couldn't follow through with campaign promises to except Israel choice, Trump did. There is a reason we sent him to DC, we were tired of how the nation was going to hell in a hand basket.

    2. There were good reasons for those President's not following through on their campaign promises. Trump, himself, hasn't followed through on his. We still haven't seen his tax returns. He promised. Smart people know why we aren't seeing them! And I refuse to acknowlege comments made about past Presidents whose names are purposely misspelled. On this blog we spell it Obama. WE DIDN'T SEND HIM TO dc. The electoral college did. The majority of us chose a different person. It is hard for me to believe someone can be tired of our nation going to hell in a handbasket and still stand in support of Trump. Haven't you noticed how much worse off the USA is?? Of course I am not a stock holder so I can't say he is good for my pocketbook. So far I haven't seen anything good come from his presidency!

  8. I'm trying to avoid the news these days. More than not I'm listening to Christmas music and trying hard to keep the Christmas Spirit alive. There truly isn't much I like to watch on TV anymore. Every now and then I catch something good so I'm still turn it on in hopes. Hope the rest of the week brings you peace filled days.

  9. The Stock Market is what makes the USA go round and it is off the charts. I wish I had more stocks! I think it is wonderful that Trump has done what Clinton and Obamma couldn't or wouldn't do. Israel wanted it...and he just backed them up. Why not Israel is our friend which is much needed in that part of the world.
Yes California sure needs prayers as those fires are awful.

    1. We certainly see things differently! Guess that is what makes the world go round. I think the stock market only helps those who own stock. And there were many, many good things accomplished by the Clinton White House as well as the Obama White House. And even though I didn't vote for him I was NEVER embarrassed by President Obama. I cannot same the same about Trump. Daily, he is embarrassing.

    3. If that was his reason for doing it. But I feel he was just much more interested in being defiant! As per usual!

  10. We don't really do much decorating for Christmas, but I have started listening to Christmas music. I miss the baking. That and sending Christmas cards. I am definitely living in a different world!

    2. They are pretty reticent to share opinions. There is a cultural slant against ever offending anyone, so any touchy subjects tend to be avoided. Even my boss, whose daughter lives in NYC, might simply mention a news story about the bomb or other violence in America. I can see she's watching for my reaction.
The only opinion I hear is that China is safer than the US, and I wholeheartedly agree!

    3. Isn't that sad to say? We used to fear China and now they are safer than the US. Such irony!

  12. Prayers, yes! Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, no matter what the world thinks. While I support standing with Israel, who knows why politicians do any of the things they do. I have not done any decorations this year. Thinking I may just skip it. While I love the meaning of Christmas, I'm just worn out on all the over done celebration of it. So much of it seems to have nothing to do with what Christmas is.
