Outside my window...
It is cold in Kansas! No snow yet! But plenty cold. We are sitting at 13* here at noon with a "feels like temperature" of 3*. Yikes, no wonder my feet are freezing. I need to go put some socks on. But, at least we aren't having those 5 feet snows like some parts of the country are having. What is it like in your neck of the woods??
Pondering..

Watching...
We have not been doing much watching of anything here. Just taking some time to chill after the Christmas season and before we get into the New Year. What are you watching?? Do you have any good Netflix shows to share?
Reading...
I have finished a couple of books and need to see about reviewing them. I am going to put them on my next years reading challenge (is that cheating?) because I HIT MY GOAL FOR 2017!! I read 40 books! Very proud of myself. Do you set goals for reading? How many do you want to read in 2018? I am going to aim for 45, I think. I am also going to try to cover a few of the classics that I have never read. Oh how I love to educate my mind. LOL! Starting out with Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut on Audible (This is on the list 100 Books Everyone Should Read) and I am reading When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi for my January book club read! What books are you reading in 2018?
Planning....
Harley and I have a little road trip to Wichita this coming Wednesday planned. She wants a new pair of jeans at Old Navy and Justin is being promoted so we are going to the ceremony! YAY Justin!!
Drinking....
I got a couple of new kinds of K-cups for Christmas that I am enjoying. Maybe they will be in my December Favorites post. Stay tuned!
What's in the kitchen...
We have not really been meal planning over Christmas break. We are eating what's in the fridge and freezer. So no planning going on here.
A quote to share...
A final thought...
Happy New Year to all of my family and friends as we head into 2018! I can hardly believe it is time for another year. Or that we are nearing the end of another decade. Can you all remember when it was 1999 and what we were saying about going into the year 2000. Well that was nearly 20 years ago. So many things have happened to change my life since 2000. I am going to be taking some time to reflect on the good, the bad, and the ugly of 2017 and prepare for what is to come.
Happy New Year!
Here's hoping that Darian has no serious issues. I have a,son with DVT and it is worrying. I binge watched the latest season of The Crown on Netflix. I also watched a lot of Hallmark Christmas movies. Wishing you a happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteIt is always worrisome with our bear cubs are feeling sick! Happy New Year Denise!
DeleteThat's unsettling news about Darian ... I'm holding him in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteWow, another decade gone so quickly? How I remember all the hype and fear regarding surrounding January 1, 2000. At the time I was seeing a fellow who was officer on one of the cruise ships. They were mandated to be on the bridge at midnight because there were no guarantees the ship's operating systems wouldn't go awry.
Happy New Year, Paula! ... and congratulations to Justin on his promotion!
"decade ALMOST gone", I meant to say. Good grief, I don't mean to be wishing time away any faster than it does.
DeleteYes, almost!! I remember all the hub bub of Y2K! So funny now! Happy New Year Myra!
DeleteI hope Darian is OK.
ReplyDeleteYou really don't want to know about my weather. If you tune into the Rose Parade on the 1st, you'll get the idea. (Pasadena is about 45 min north of us, but close enough that some of the students are volunteering to decorate floats.)
All my TV recommendations I've posted at various times. Nothing new to report.
No I am sure I don't want to know about your weather. LOL! We are at a -13 feels like here today!
DeleteWill say a prayer for Darian. Good idea not to worry too much and allow the doctors to sort through things once he is back at base. Yea to Justin for his promotion!!
ReplyDeleteI just finished watching binge watching Parenthood on Netflix and started season 1 of The Crown. Really enjoying it so far!
It was 76 degrees here today. We put up with 6 months of misery to get a December day like this, LOL :)
Happy New Year!
betty
I think I might add The Crown to my list. I've heard a lot about it! Oh how I'd like to be spending today with you!!
DeleteKeeping warm seems to be on all our minds these days. It's been and will be below freezing for several more days. I only hope it's not a sign of what winter will be like. We've got quite a lot more of winter to deal with yet. March is looking a long way off. Happy New Year to you and yours ! Keep warm!
ReplyDeleteIt seems to have our nation blanketed!! Happy New Year to you too!
DeleteHappy 2018 to you! My son once had a fainting spell that took him to the hospital. Turns out he was drinking so much diet soda that it had washed all the potassium out of his system ... very dangerous if left unchecked. He quit drinking soda from that day forward and drinks mostly water these days. I don't know how many books I read in 2017 but not nearly enough. I always start out planning to record them on my blog but get distracted. After today I am taking a 31 break from FB and I am hoping it will help me get back into a good routine of reading and writing. I think I'll take the FB app off my phone so when I do go back on I won't be constantly looking at it. Totally addicted to the click.
ReplyDeleteRaising my tea cup to you and wishing us both a good new year. Cheers!
I do know that drinking diet soda is not good for you! We mostly drink water here. I keep track of my books on Goodreads and in my Bullet Journal. I am aiming for 45 this year. Taking a break from Facebook is good for all of us from time to time. Good luck!
DeleteIt's cold for Florida but no where as cold as where you are of course.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about Darian. I will definitely keep him, and you, in my prayers.
I've been watching a few movies on Netflix, but nothing that I thought "I'm so glad I watched that".
I'm going to start The Reminders by Val Emmich tomorrow afternoon. And for my first 2018 audio I'm going to listing to Unashamed by Lecrae Moore.
Congratulations to Justin!
Happy New Year to you and your family!
Sounds like you have some good plans for reading and listening!
DeleteHappy new Year! Yes I will pray for Darian, I hope it isn't anything serious.
ReplyDeleteStay warm! It is real cold here -33 this morning and the windchills are beyond that. :)
Thank you Far Side. Yes you are much colder than we are!!
DeleteOh gosh! Hope Darian is ok.
ReplyDeleteI am with you - I feel like we summed up 2016 just yesterday and now we are looking back at 2017. Time just travels by so fast. In 1999 - you husband and my mom were both with us. Need to enjoy every minute as it passes. Happy New Year dear blog friend.
Elaine
Yes, that is a true sum of 1999. I miss him so much. I know you miss your mom too! Happy New year to you my friend!
DeleteWishing the best for the new year! And Darian's health!
ReplyDeleteIt was -13 here without the wind chill today.
Brrrrrr. Thank you Kwiz!
DeletePrayers for Darian. God is good. Hope you enjoy your trip with Harley!
ReplyDeleteThank you Red!
DeleteHappy New Year Paula. I hope it brings good news regarding Darian's health. The Crown is definitely worth a watch. I've set myself a reading goal of 52 books (I managed 54 in 2017) one a week seems manageable. My son and his wife have just returned from Vermont where it was -22 degrees. They were glad to get back to the warmth of London. (Currently + 7)
ReplyDeleteI have added the Crown to my list. I am hearing lots of good recommendations. LOL that it is colder in Vermont. I have never been but it is cold in Kansas too!
DeleteHappy New Year and I will keep Darian in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteI've been enjoying The Crown, like everyone else.
Thank you Debby!
