Dear Friday:
So good to see you again. You come often to visit and we enjoy you. Soon we will enjoy you even more. Harley goes to school for the first day this next Friday!!
Dear Bank Fraud Department:
Imagine my surprise on Monday morning when I received a text from my bank's fraud department. And it was so early. I almost ignored it. Thinking it was a hack. Then I checked my emails and saw that I had an email as well. Plus almost $200. worth of charges to iTunes! What the heck. I rarely use iTunes. And never to the tune of $200. So I quickly called the number they provided me with and my debit card was blocked. Then I had to make a trip to the bank. I wasn't the first customer of the day to fill out fraud papers against someone buying from iTunes. Kelsey at the bank was very gracious. She helped get the proper paper work done and a new debit card made and I was on my way in under 30 minutes. It took a few days for the money to be returned to my account. But all is 'almost' back to normal. Still waiting on a $35 refund. I am so grateful for my bank being on top of these kinds of things. I DO check my account everyday and make sure the charges are all mine. But they beat me to it on Monday!!
Dear High School:
Thank you so much for on-line enrollment. So much better than back in the day when I had to go to the school and walk down a long line of tables filling out papers and paying fees. Hasn't it been wonderful to have the INTERNET in our lives? (Well except when someone is frauding my bank account).
I appreciate the on-line forms, too. Except, I must call the high school and tell them my user ID is an email account I gave up last July. Another little mess to straighten up. Happy first day of school to you.
ReplyDeleteHappy First Day to you and your granddaughter as well, Joanne
DeleteI wish we had the paperwork for parents to sign online, it would save a lot of hassle! The students sign up for classes online, though, and that's handy. I start Monday, students start Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteOur students don't yet sign up online. But it is so nice to do all the paper signing on line!
DeleteYikes, I actually have bought some songs currently off ITunes- I'm off to check my bank statement.....
ReplyDeleteI'm still dealing with getting the one charge removed.
DeleteA few times we've had someone charging stuff to our bank account. It's frustrating. Luckily the bank took care of it swiftly.
ReplyDeleteParents can't enroll their kids via the internet here yet. Your last sentence made me lol!
Thank you Vicki. Happy to have made you laugh :)
DeleteOnline signs up are great aren't they!? Even the DMV is helpful there in registering vehicles once a year. Hope the bank gets all that cleared up. That's the worst feeling.
ReplyDeleteI've done my tags online for a few years now. Beats waiting in that long line!!
DeleteIn this case, thank goodness for "Big Brother"! Only yesterday Tom was telling me of a friend's story on FB: She received a call, presumably from her bank's fraud department. Only when they began asking her what she considered off-the-wall questions, she grew suspicious -- and asked for some form of proof. They hung up!
ReplyDeleteSad how we're having to live on high alert.
That's why I checked it out with the bank first Myra. I am paranoid about everything!
DeleteYou sign up for classes now? Eeek. Around here, they meet with their counselors in April (maybe March) and do all that. On the first day, they get a schedule.
ReplyDeleteShe signed up for classes in May. This was just completing all the enrollment forms and paying the fees.
DeleteThat's unique that Harley's school starts on a Friday, but probably good; one day there and then 2 days off :)
ReplyDeleteSharp bank to catch the activity and send the alerts! Glad its being worked out.
I remember son's senior year. We had to go in to do all the registration/etc. I remember when I called asking if I needed to come along (I did) and she said "bring your check book" (this was 10 years ago). She was right with this fee and that fee. Online would be so much more easier. I tend to be a hermit these days so if I can do it online, all the better!
These Fridays do have a way of coming around incredibly fast these days!
betty
Most of the kids start on Thursday. Seniors get to wait until Friday. They are the "big shots" now remember. :)
DeleteGood thing your bank was on top of things and got it straightened out quickly! Recently we have had phone scams, I took the time to warn my ageing parents about them :( It is a shame we have to put up with crooks at every turn:(
ReplyDeleteOh those nasty phone scams. And it is so sad that they target the elderly!
DeleteHi Paula - glad that all got sorted out ... I too have had questions from the bank - thankfully nothing disastrous. Good that it is resolved and hope that $30 comes through very soon ... yes the internet has its advantages ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteStill waiting on the last charge to go away!
DeleteMy hubby is very suspicious of contactless payments - I understand why. Glad your bank was on the ball.
ReplyDeleteThank you Wendy!
DeleteYes, there are many advantages to having the internet. But there is always someone out there it seems who tries to spoil things for us. I had that happen to me once with charges to a casino in Mexico. I march right out to the bank and they could plainly see that no, I was not in Mexico. I got all my money back too.
ReplyDeleteYes, I am very thankful for the bank's fraud department!
DeleteIt's great when your bank or credit card company is on top of fraudulent use of your cards. Glad you got everything straightened out!
ReplyDeleteMe too!
DeleteAt the beginning of the year, I got a message from my main credit card - that someone was making fraudulent charges! They caught it after two charges...I was not charged of course. And I got a new card after they cancelled my other one. Last year, it happened to my husband - arghhh!
ReplyDeleteLinda in VA
So frustrating. But there are so many out there working to rob us.
DeleteI'm also nominating you for the Versatile Blog Award. If you do, you do, if you don't you don't, but I can't pass you up. Love your blog and wish I could fix my WordPress to get your updates on my "reader"! https://365daysblog.com/
ReplyDeleteThank you Kathy! I will check it out!
DeleteThere is good and bad in everything. So glad they caught it quickly.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that the truth. Life used to be so much simpler though!
