The sun has set! We started out very foggy this morning. Then the sun came out and we got up to 55*. Tomorrow they are predicting 70* How nice for Kansas in February!!
AS I PONDER....
There is a lot going on in my household. I will tell you all about it before we end this list. I am proud. I am scared! But it is a good thing. A good thing for our family!!! Wait for it....
WHAT I AM LEARNING...
I have been memorizing Psalm 121 with the Do Not Depart group. If you would like to join us just click on the box in the upper right hand of my blog. This weeks we are doing 121:6:
"the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night."
I'm making a sticker book for my Mambi stickers which I use in my Happy Planner. I will share it when I'm finished. I have switched to the Mini Happy Planner. I want to use my classic happy planner for memory keeping. I think!
WHAT I'M READING....
I am almost finished with Still Life
by Louise Penny. And I have been listening to Belong To Me by Marisa de los Santos. I received it free on my Nook Audible. So far I really enjoy it. I'm also keep up with my Bible reading (Yay, me!!) This week I am reading Leviticus in the NLT version. The Old Testament is a struggle sometimes but hopefully I will stay on track. And with the GOD and GLAM group I belong to we are reading Living the Christian Year as a devotional. So I only read a chapter each week (a few pages each day). We are on week six of Epiphany. I am learning so much. Whew, that's a lot of reading!!
WHAT I'M WATCHING...
Last night I watched TLC's Husband Brothers. Did anyone catch it. I don't know if it will become a new series or not. It is a take on Sister Wives except this is one wife and two husbands with five kids. It seems very scripted. And I don't think the couples get along as well as the Brown family in Sister Wives. I doubt that I will follow this series. What do you think of that idea?? No way would I want more than one husband. But I would take a few sister wives. Hahaha!
WHAT I'M HEARING...
Currently I have Kevin on as background noise. Not a show I watch regularly. But the remote is too far away!!
WHAT'S ON MY CAMERA...

Staying close but both on their phones |

Tuesday...Chili Dogs & Chips

A peek into my week...
I will be doing a lot of driving this week. Harley works everyday but Wednesday and Friday. Darian is coming home to spend the night with us on Saturday. Justin and Paige will be here Saturday too. I am taking Harley to get a "tiny" tiny nose piercing on Friday! It's her birthday present from me. She has been asking for it forever!! Darian turned 19 on Tuesday and Harley was 17 on Saturday. So we celebrated. Kind of!
A final thought...
Yes that is right!! We have become an Army Family. And we are ARMY PROUD! Darian made the trip two weeks ago to Oklahoma City and enlisted in the Army. He got everything from them he asked for. He leaves for Basic Training on Sunday! Yep, this Sunday!! He will have Basic training and his infantry training simultaneously and be gone for four months. I am so proud of him! We are all so proud of him! Stay turned for any and all updates!! And add this young man to your prayer lists. He has joined with a buddy. They will go to Basic (Fort Benning, Georgia) and then on to their first duty station together!! Very, very proud granny!!
Okay, I admit, I couldn't wait so I scrolled down to the end and saw your and Darian's exciting news! What a wonderful adventure he will have and how much growth he will experience in the days, months, years to come! Proud of him along with you!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting with Harley and the very tiny nose piercing (LOL). Couldnt' do it myself, but have others dear to me that have it and it always looks good :)
I'm sure Saturday night when Darian is over will be bittersweet, but cheers to new beginnings and starts. He will do just fine!!!!!
betty
LOL! It is okay that you scrolled down. I probably would have too. It is going to be a big adventure for him for sure. Tonight we were talking and I asked him if he was excited, scared, or anxious. And He said yes...all three. I told him I was all three too! I don't think I would have the nerve for the piercing either. We'll see how she does. It will be bittersweet for all of us but I am excited to have him here!
DeleteHi Paula - congratulations to the two birthday peeps ... but an Army family - that's wonderful and good for the two 'boys' ... they will have some some amazing experiences as well as some life-learning ones. So pleased for you and for them ... and then the Army Family - all the very best - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteThank you Hilary! I am very proud of him!
DeleteYou know I pray for the troops daily and your grandson will definitely be included. What an exciting adventure he has begun. Happy Birthday to both!
ReplyDeleteYes, I know you do. And I thank you for that! I will be adding that to my prayer list daily!
DeleteWow--lots of changes! Good for Darian--this is life changing! I think the nose piercing is a great gift. If I didn't wear glasses I would have a piercing (either nose or eyebrow).
ReplyDeleteSounds like a big, busy weekend ahead--enjoy every minute! xo
PS--it's -16 this morning so I am really envious of your above zero temperatures!
DeleteI hope she likes this nose piercing as much as she thinks she will. We do have a busy weekend ahead!! Thanks Kwiz!
DeleteI will feel very guilty for telling you that it is 62* here today!!
DeleteA great leap into adult life for your young man. We're all proud of him.
ReplyDeleteThank you Joanne. It is a great leap, for sure!
DeleteAlready, Darian looks more grown-up ... like a man in these pictures! That's pretty neat his buddy will be right there.
ReplyDeleteI'll sure be thinking of everyone this weekend, and holding the 'boys' in my prayers!
I'll bet Harley's so excited. You're a cool granny, Paula!
Thank you Myra. I don't know about how cool I am LOL!
DeleteThat is a lot of reading. And Darian finally made up his mind, eh? Good luck to him.
ReplyDeleteYes, he did finally make up his mind! Took him a bit!
DeleteMillionaire Spaghetti .. what is that?
ReplyDeleteGo Army!
http://www.sixsistersstuff.com/2012/12/million-dollar-casserole.html That is the link for Million Dollar spaghetti. If you would ask my granddaughter Paige she would tell you...."the best spaghetti EVER" Yes, Go Army!
DeleteWow exciting times for Darian but I'm sure it's also scary for you. My daughter has a nose piercing in which she usually wears a very tiny stud. She had it done while out in Thailand and her question to me was "what do you think about them" I can live what she has. I don't like to see rings in them and I certainly wouldn't get one myself!
ReplyDeleteI told her there would be NO Rings while still living here! She's good with that!
DeleteCongratulations on Darian's acceptance into the army, Paula. Your sense of grandma pride comes through loud and clear!
ReplyDeleteThank you Susan!
DeleteYeah for Darian!! He will be just fine! Not much time to prepare for him to go, make your Granny List of to do stuff before he leaves. :)
ReplyDeleteHe's been preparing for this for over two years. He had enlisted in the Marines while still in high school and then changed his mind. So we are both ready!
DeleteGoodness! It's been a busy household for you! Nose piercings and the Army! Birthday young lady, and birthday soon to be soldier. Gives me a lump in my throat. My best wishes for both grands. Need any tissues yet? Or are you doing okay? Sunday will come so quickly! Chili dogs sound yummy! I love the prints in the sand made by the turtle in the image you shared. The video of the choir singing touched my heart. Darian will be in my prayers. Please thank him for his service for me.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Gram. I didn't have any need for tissues yet. But after reading your comment I do. Thank you so much!!
DeleteCongrats all around. We were a Marine family for a time in the 1990s. I am afraid I didn't do a good job at that. Missed my son too much. But it is a worthy endeavor. Our country needs good men more than ever now. He will be in my prayers. You as well.
ReplyDeleteWe were a Marine family for a tiny bit. And then he changed his mind and went Army! I will miss him a lot too but it is what he wants to do so I will support him. Thank you Elaine for the prayers!
DeleteCongratulations to Darian on his Army enlistment. My son served 6 years in the Navy and my husband served 20 years in the Navy and Coast Guard. My dad was a MP in the army in Korea. We LOVE the military at our house.
ReplyDeleteWe are a military family too. Both Army and Navy!! Thank you Debby!
DeleteThanks for your comment on my change post re the A-Z challenge. I saw you'd responded to their post as well. I'm sure it will all work out somehow!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it will work out too!
DeleteDarian will do well in the Army. I will hold him in my thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteThank you Wendy!
