My Favorite Things for February

In focusing on the positive I thought I would share with you some of my favorite 'things' from February.

First of all is my new mini Happy Planner. It is about the size of my hand. I still like the Classic (bigger) Happy Planner and am thinking about turning it into a 'memory planner.' I like the way the mini is set up. And I like that it has lines. I haven't completely figured out how I am going to use it but so far I love it. Another favorite thing is those awesome Eiffel Tower scissors I purchased at Target. They are really sharp and great for paper cutting. And just too darn cute. And that pretty picture I colored is one of my favorite from this month!!

My final week of February

I also love this bookmark made from a page I colored!

Oh so pretty!
The plate is on a silver charger layered over
a red place mat!

Another favorite thing this month are these plates I picked up at The Dollar Tree. $1 each. And so bright and fun! My regular Pfaltzgraff dishes have taken a beating over the years and are getting chipped so I treated myself to some new plates.

This year my February mantle was one of my favorite EVER! I filled it up and layered a lot onto it. I love these adorable little metal word pieces which I found at the Target Dollar Spot. They were $3 each and added such a cute layer to my mantle. Do you shop at the Dollar Spot? I need to stay away more!! LOL

Just a card in the picture frame

Little plaques from my son

My favorite snack for February has been these yummy chocolate Hazelnut cream filled wafers! Perfect with a cup of coffee in the afternoon for a 'pick me up'. They are $1 from the Dollar Tree. There are 10 wafers in each little can. They are 100 calories for 2 wafers. I usually only have one!! They also have a vanilla filled wafer that is simply to die for.

oops upside down!
My best purchase for this month was also from The Dollar Tree. Harley and I took a little road trip to a neighboring town that has a bigger Dollar Tree than ours. We found these tempered glass screen savers for $1 each. They are identical to what I purchased from Amazon for $7.99 a pack. I have never broken, cracked, or had any damage to my screen saver but the grandkids are hard on theirs and have replaced them a couple times. Harley recently purchased a pretty expensive one for her iPhone and cracked it in less than a month! So these are a really, really good buy!

Now this next thing is not really a thing. It's a picture of my son. I sent him a picture of a towel, which he left on the floor, and told him he couldn't do things like that. This is what I got as an answer. No matter how big they are or how old they get they can still be smarta**es! But I love the picture!

I would be remiss if I didn't include the weather for one of my favorite things. This is the temperature, right now, at 5:45 p.m. here in Hutchinson!!!!!!!

What have been some of your favorite things this month? Tell me about them in the comments! And have a great week!

  1. I love the Dollar Tree! I buy a lot of my crafting supplies there. I haven't tried the cookies, I've seen them, but I would eat the entire can, my reasoning would be that it was only $1!

    1. We have just gotten the Dollar Tree here. But ours is so small compared to what I see others have! Those cookies are great. Ha! Ha! That would be some good reasoning!!

  2. I've had those little wafers, and they are as good as you say. I don't stop at one. Although the weather has been beautiful, work has not. I won't miss February--or that job.

    1. I am so glad that I have retired! Except for the discipline it brought to my life. Now I am so "procratinate-ive"

  3. You're warmer than us today. We only hit a high of 64.

My favorite thing this month? Hmmm... Maybe the cat ear headband that I knit myself. I haven't really gotten anything all that new this month, unless you consider the clutch master and slave cylinders that I just had to have replaced on my car :0

Oh, wait. I got a breakfast burrito maker. Which I haven't tried yet. There. That's my favorite thing this month.

    1. Are you near where all the rain and floods are?? Ewww those are good things to buy, are they? Now a breakfast burrito makes sounds good. Tell me how you like it!

  4. Love those plates! The dollar stores can have such great bargains and the best thing is if you get tired of them or they break, not much investment in them! All great favorite things of yours for February! Loving your weather! I think my favorite thing this month is the heater has been running less, sometimes not at all for days, got to love that when the electricity bill comes along!

    1. Exactly how I feel about their plates. And the quality is not bad. Probably as good as the ones I paid much more for! I am looking forward to a decrease in the heating bill. But then the electric bill just goes up with A/C. Never ending!

  5. I am not a shopper, but when I do want to pick up something I head to Tuesday Morning. I bought my Lenox dishes there a few years ago to replace the set I bought when I married in 1970. It costs me less than my good china did back then. My favorite thing this month has to be the mild weather, though snow is headed here for the weekend.

    1. I am not a shopper either Denise. But I DO like going to the Dollar Store! And a run to Target every now and then is a necessity. I hate Walmart so I seldome go there. And everyone knows I do my grocery shopping on-line!

  6. The very best thing for February in life is the fact that my house is sold. It passed appraisal and inspection and the closing will be March 23rd ! We have had fantastic February weather here and tomorrow should be in the 70's. Unheard of for us this time of year !

  9. The most favorite time may be when my son and his wife Amber spent a few days with me this last week. They live in the Seattle area and he just signed up to stay another year there. Taking their vacation they came south to see dad,his sister and family and visit New Orleans. Dad was ready with a new king bed set and big second bedroom set up for company. On Sunday his sister setup a crawfish boil to welcome them to Louisiana, Our friend the deputy and his wife done the boil and taught them the proper way to enjoy crawfish. Thank Justin and Tiff for the company. Also you don't do a boil without the neighbors dropping by, Mary and Jason stopped in to met the guest of honor. Left over tails went in a crawfish pasta dish the next evening. Fish time the kids and I have been together at the same time since granddaughter was born 13 years ago

    1. I'm glad they came to visit. Now you will have to go visit them! Sounds like you have a bedroom all ready for when Harley and I get brave enough to come that far. We want to attend Darian's graduation in June but probably only be a short visit for graduation and home. Especially if the whole clan comes!

  11. Those scissors are so cute! I wish I had a pair of left-handed scissors now that I can't cut with my right hand! The bookmark you made from what you colored is really very pretty. Looks great! I have to agree with Betty about my furnace taking a breather with the nicer weather we've had here. My checkbook will be grateful when the next bill comes. A recent favorite thing for February is healthy and economic take-out places because the novelty of one-handed cooking and dish washing has worn off. And I like when someone offers a good movie recommendation, too.

    1. I love my scissors! I didn't even know there was such a thing as left handed scissors. How are they different? I just had to have the furnace people come out and tell me why mine wasn't warming us up!! Sheesh. It never ends!

    2. Good question. Try your scissors with your left hand. (It sounds bossy, but I meant it politely.) They work naturally to pull the blades together for a proper cut. On right-handed scissors, the blade that goes up with your thumb is on the left as you hold the scissors. On left-handed scissirs, the blade you move up with your thumb is on the right. Sorry about your furnace. Hope your warm now.

    3. Egads! Very hard to do that left handed cutting. I see what you mean. I learn something new everyday. I just needed to have the furnace cleaned. And some crud scraped off the sensor. I think I could have done all that and kept my $99.

  12. Those scissors are so cool! I'd love to invest in a Happy Planner of my own, if'n my handwriting wasn't so awful. (Pathetic how I worry about these sorts of things.)

I'll have to get back to ya about my favorite things ... when I come up for air, that is. Great topic!

  14. I love the dollar tree and the 99 cent store. They are today's version of the old five and dime. Those cookies in a tin, the hazelnut - a major weakness. I have been known to polish off all 10 of them! I haven't had them in a while...

  15. I was coveting your scissors! I am not getting much done in February but I have enjoyed the warmer sunny days we had but now we are cold again. I have a weekly planner that I keep track of my steps and my miles on the bike to nowhere....it keeps me motivated. We have a dollar store in town but I am not a a good shopper so I rarely go there.
You must be fancy using chargers and everything! I have many sets of dishes but have never used chargers:)

    1. I need to keep track of my steps. Maybe I'd take more if I thought I was writing it down for people to see. Yep, I love those chargers. I've used them for years! And years! I need to get some that are a different color!

  16. I love your Eiffel tower scissors. I am a second hand store junkie and have picked up plenty of treasures there. Although it wasn't 76 here, it was almost 70, enough to fool my flowers but now it is snowing and is in the 20s.

    1. Oh I love second hand stores too. But I haven't been in some time. Must put that on my list of things to do!

  17. I loved this post, Paula :) Those Eiffel Tower scissors are wonderful and what a super journal - I'd definitely have chosen them too - pity we don't have these wonderful stores over here in the UK!! I like the idea of a different mantle each month and not just for Christmas - I might try this somewhere in my house :) Take care. Special Teaching at Pempi’s Palace
