We are going to think Spring is on the way today. It is already 54* and supposed to get into the upper 60's. I love the sun shining! Yes, I do!
AS I PONDER....
I am pondering if I want to do anything or if I want to sit and read. I would really like to finish the book I am reading and start a new one!!
WHAT I AM LEARNING...
I am learning that the America we live in today is not the same America I was born into. There was so much racism back in the 50's and 60's. That certainly hasn't changed. What HAS changed is the pure hatred I see everywhere because of the INTERNET. People who sit behind their keyboards, in hiding, and lambaste EVERYTHING that is going on in the world. I wonder how verbal these people would be without the anonymity of the screen. Guess that is why the Klan wore those white sheets. They were ashamed to show their faces!
My linen closet |
I am creating space!!
More space for just the things I need and nothing else.
WHAT I'M READING....
I am currently reading Still Life by Louise Penny. I am about half-way through the book. I need to kick it in gear because it is time to start the February book club pick!
WHAT I'M WATCHING...
Last night I watched The Help on TV. It was my first time. I absolutely loved it. I love Viola Davis and Cicely Tyson! Both great actresses.
WHAT I'M HEARING...
Right now I have the news on in the background. I have cleaned out my Facebook feed because of so much negative news. Maybe I need to get up and turn off the TV.
WHAT'S ON MY CAMERA...

A QUOTE I WANT TO SHARE...
What I'm fighting for...
A final thought...
I don't have much to say this week. I am weary! I am weary of the world in which we live. I am weary of unkind people. I am weary. But it is enough for me to know that this sentiment is true for me. Thank you, Richard, for loving me!!
HAVE A HAPPY WEEK FRIENDS! BE KIND TO ONE ANOTHER!
I love the comparison of the white sheets with the internet. Amen, Paula, I too am sick to death of it. I am doing my best to pass things by without comment but it is so hard. How do you clean out your facebook feed? Happy Birthday to the kids and yes....the suspense is killing me.
ReplyDeleteYou can change the look of your feed by unfollowing everyone! If I want to see what someone is up to I just click over to their personal page. For now there are some I don't want to see at all. Thank you for the happy birthdays
DeleteThe high today is 62 . I agree with your "What I Am Learning". I saw The Help when it came to the theaters and loved it so much that mu husband surprised me with the DVD and the book. Your colorings are beautiful! Happy Birthday to Darian and Harley!
ReplyDeleteI just came in from outside. I cannot believe how warm it is. Thank you for the happy birthdays!
DeleteI too cleaned out my Facebook feed! I unfollowed 5 people, some of them close family members! I am just so tired of the hatred and people that act like you're some awful person if you don't believe how they believe! Tired, tired tired!!
ReplyDeleteWe have to do what we have to do! I have to take care of me!!
DeleteI wish I could just turn off the newsfeed and go on with my life in ignorance. Ignorance is bliss?
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that ignorance is bliss! That's why I love to nap!
DeleteI am watching a travel video while I write this. Tasmanisn devils are fighting over food. Some Americans act the same way.
ReplyDeleteLOL!
DeleteKindness comes before agreeing to disagree. When there is no kindness, there is nothing.
ReplyDeleteSo true!
DeleteHappy birthday to the kiddos!
ReplyDeleteI'm so envious (in a good way) of your weather. It's snow flurries and 26 degrees today.
Thank you Kwiz! It got up to 72* here today
DeleteWow, can't believe it is birthday time already for the two! How fun with celebrating and one more year before Harley hits the big 18! Amazing! We are warm here too; in the mid 70s', loving it!
ReplyDeletebetty
I can't believe it either! One day they are so little and bam! the next day young adults!
DeleteHappy Birthdays to your Grands...it is cake week at your house for sure!
ReplyDeleteI am tired of the ugliness too, I try to ignore most of it. I blocked some people at Facebook, they were posting political crap many times a day.
I watched Tom Brokaw last night, he said we were just as divided in the late 1960's and we got though that so there is hope.
Your linen closet looks great! :)
Thanks! I know that we got through it but I don't remember it being so ugly!! Maybe it was. I was just a kid and a young adult then!
DeleteBeautiful sentiment, Paula.
ReplyDelete... but puleeeeze, don't keep me in suspense?!
We're back in the 70's this week, up from last week's 50's ... much to my dismay. LOL.
You're so right about the ugliness and ignorance which exists, both on social media and the evening news. Frightening, isn't it? I wonder if our enemies aren't sitting back and laughing at us.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY blessings to D & H!
You need to live in Kansas Myra. As much as you don't like the heat. Although our heat in the summer with the humidity is horrible. Thank you for the Happy Birthdays
DeleteHappy birthday to the kiddos. Upper 60s is warm? I guess we're spoiled here. (We got up to 80.)
ReplyDeleteIt was really a nice day. We don't see the 60's in the winter here very often. Yes you all are spoiled!! LOL! Thanks for the happy birthdays!
DeleteHi Paula - happy birthday to the two kids and enjoy the time with them. It's not easy with the news at the moment. I'm sitting in full mist ... sea and skyline no different! Be peaceful with all things ... and get on with our own lives as you are doing ... take care - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteThanks for the birthday wishes! I'll pass them on! News of the moment is certainly not good!
DeleteHappy birthday to Darian and Harley. Got enough candles? Do they request certain kinds of cakes? Best wishes to both. Upper 60s! Enjoy. You've been really working on creating space. Look at that closet! Very tidy. I let GN talk a little bit about what she hears ir reads of politics. She's got a strong sesnse of ownership to this country and that's a good thing. But we both are keeping the exposure to news at just enough to be in the know. Fun to read that you watched a movie and loved it! All the best to you and yours!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the birthday wishes. I will fill up a cake with candles!! Thanks for the closet comments. Today I am going under the sink in the main bath. My grandson has a strong sense of ownership for his country too! I wish the best to you my friend!
DeleteI cleaned up some of my Facebook, but it wasn't enough. Then I stopped visiting it. That helped. I am ready to give up listening to the news.
ReplyDeleteI think the best thing might be to walk away from Facebook right now. People are so filled with hate! I don't understand how that happened. I barely listen to the news. Isn't that sad?
DeleteIt's so true we don't have to agree in order to be kind. We can still love and respect each other. There is a lot of anger out there and I think it's because people feel so confused and are scared. They need to feel secure. Being kind is always the right way to go. It's up to us to choose.
ReplyDeleteJust too much anger. If that is what this president brought about I wonder how he can be good for the country!
DeleteThese are certainly difficult times.
ReplyDeleteYes they are!
DeleteYep, i've been unfollowing and scrolling by a lot lately in FB.
ReplyDeleteMy stepkids are 3 years apart and their birthdays are also 3 days apart both in September.
I love Ellen's show by closing everyday with Be kind to one another!!
We dont have to agree to be kind. Big hugs my friend and i'm proud of you for making space in your closets!! I'm slowly working on mine too.
Darian and Harley are two years apart. They really don't like celebrating their birthdays together but that is what we are going to do this year! Good luck with your closets!
Delete68* and feel 68* and 45% humidity at 11am. About time for the flowers to pop out and the grass to need mowing
ReplyDelete57 here today! I hope no flowers start to poke out at my house. Winter is far from over here!
DeleteWhat a blessing to have such a beautiful love with Richard. So many people look for their whole lives and never find such a beautiful thing. {{{Hugs}}}
ReplyDeleteI am working on my post now. I'll be back later to share the link. Have a blessed day!
I was blessed with a beautiful love. I am glad I knew that while he was alive! Can't wait to see your post!
DeleteThanks, Paula. Here's the link: Currently...A Life List.
DeleteI agree with you about how some things have changed. I think we will always have some degree of racism on this earth, but the level of hate out there these days is just unreal! I think that the anonymity of the Internet does make it easier to "hit and run", in a manner of speaking. Nobody truly knows who is saying/posting the bad things, or the good things either, for that matter. Many people say things online that they'd never have the gumption to say face-to-face to someone else.
I agree 100% with the kindness quote that you shared. :)
Have a blessed day!
Thank you Suzanne!
DeleteAgree completely with your sentiments on negative news and hate-spewing over social media. Sick.of.it. The world is need of a LOT more kindness, that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteAs for The Help, I loved the book AND the movie. What is your February book club book?
I am sick of the whole political mess that is going on in this country. We are reading Love Warrior for February!
DeletePS I meant to say Happy Birthday, Harley, and Happy Birthday, Darian!
ReplyDeleteThanks Suzanne!
