LOOKING OUT MY WINDOW....The sun has set. All the ice from the past few days has melted. We did not get anything bad. We kept our power the whole time. We did not leave home for 3 days! (Today is another day...and the sun is shining!!!)
AS I PONDER....
As I ponder the Presidential inauguration, coming up this week, I think about how divided this country is. More divided than ever. And social media brings out the nastiness in people. I know we need to support this guy as the President of our great country. But, I don't have to LIKE him. And I won't quit criticizing him if he goes around acting like a spoiled child who has to jump on everyone who displeases him. We need to all step up and show HIM how Americans act. There are so many more of us who know manners, who know political correctness, who know how to love and not how to hate. We can overcome and show the world we are great! So let's all get behind the President and show him the proper way to handle himself in office!! I know we can do it!
WHAT I AM LEARNING...
I have, once again, joined with the Do Not Depart group to memorize verses in the Bible. We are memorizing Psalm 121:1-8. Here is this week's verse:
"A song of ascents. I lift up my eyes to the mountains-where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth."

WHAT I'M READING....
I am reading Still Life by Louise Penny. I have heard so much about this author. I am still listening to Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult. I only listen while I clean. So I need to get busy cleaning so I can hear more of this book!
WHAT I'M WATCHING...
I have been watching Is OJ Innocent? The Missing Evidence on Investigation Discovery channel. It is narrated by Martin Sheen and one of the investigators is Derrick Lavesseur (former winner of Big Brother). It is a six-episode true-crime series which points the finger at Jason Simpson, OJ's son. I watched the entire OJ Simpson trial on Court TV (I loved that channel). I was one of the few (okay, I may have been the only one) of my friends and family who believed OJ was NOT the killer. That doesn't mean I believe he was completely innocent. I just don't think he was guilty of murder.
WHAT I'M HEARING...
My house is currently silent. That doesn't happen very often. The only thing I can hear is the bubbling in the fish tank and the clacking of the keys as I type. Perfect!!

Just another week of taxiing my girl to and from work. I am going to de-clutter the linen closet today. Why do we keep so many towels and linens. Not anymore!! I am down-sizing!!

I so agree with you on the Trump issue! He is not presidential at all. He needs to stay off Twitter!! Ridiculous! I've been dreading the inauguration and I get more and more depressed as it draws near. I hope he surprises us. All we can do is pray...

It’s interesting because she talks about her writing process as she works through the next book. She’s had an interesting life. She just lost her husband to Alzheimers. I am definitely going to check out the OJ thing with Derek. I’m a big “Big Brother fan. I watched the trial too. Yeah, I think he was guilty.

DeleteI'm sorry to say - I will not, cannot - stand by Trump. Ever.. Friday will be a dark day here...but I will get out and try to shut it all out - and make sure that I watch nothing on tv that has to do with it or him, etc.

I love Louise Penny's books. I just finished her newest one - hated to see it end! And am already longing for the next one. She is busy writing it. Not sure how she does it - she just went through caring for him for awhile because he had dementia. And then he recently passed away. She is such a sweet woman. If it had been me, I would have lost my words.... so glad to know she didn't...

I understand how you feel Linda. I feel the same. But I have to stop hating and just stand by cautiously watching. I don't think I could write! But taking care of a husband with dementia is certainly a challenge.

ReplyDeleteI don't know about Trump. I'll probably just poke fun at him, and this is to take the pressure off my inner pressure cooker. He is Eminently Unlikable. He deserves all the flak that comes his way. I also remember that he did NOT win any election. We are better in so many ways than this lowest, meanest, common denominator.

So agree with you about supporting the president elect. I've made it a point to pray for him daily (I'm sure I missed a few days here and there). DeleteI've been criticizing Trump since the 90's. Guess I wasn't vocal enough, lol. He disgusts me, but I have better things to do than dwell on him. The more I've learned about O J the more guilty he looks. BTW, I too am decluttering. What a chore.

DeleteGreen bean soup? I have put green bean in soup, but never had green bean soup. I remember saying that Obama deserved our respect because he was our president to people who hated him. But, Trump seems to embody hatred of others and I will find it hard to respect that man. More like endure. I really wonder if the man is mentally competent.

I too have snowmen still decorating my house, but truly I am ready for February when I can get some hearts and flowers out here to brighten up the place. What a find for your granddaughter on the prom dress. I always wore gently used ones back in the day and since they're only worn one time it's nice to pass them on to someone else too. Towards the beginning of the OJ debacle, I SO wanted to believe in his innocence. Now, not so much. Now that we've a (so-called) smart TV, I'm going to look for that Discovery series. (I thought Jason Simpson was just a little kid at the time of the murder?)

No Jason was an adult He was a chef at the time of the murder! The series finished last night. There are still a lot of questions. I do NOT understand why they never questioned Jason further! Seems unbelievable to me!!
DeleteI followed the OJ trail back then daily - or as much as I possibly could. It was like a daytime soap drama for me. I thought and still do believe he is guilty, but I would like to watch that program. Who knows, with new solid evidence...
ReplyDeleteI'll watch on Friday - I love the whole pomp and ceremony. I just don't know about him and am trying to stay positive, be watchful. I am also staying about from any media that puts out negative commentary. I do however, really like his daughter - always have. She has good shoes!!!
I did too. I was working night shift and I would rush home to spend all day watching Court TV. I tried to stay positive on Friday. And I did okay until her spoke and then I lost it!
