Are you as surprised as I am that it is already Friday?? I swear these days are speeding by faster than a speeding bullet. Or a speeding train. I wake up on Monday morning and the next thing I know it is Friday!! Sheesh!
Just offering up a few little notes to sum up my week....
Dear God:
I don't want to complain about the weather. I know that sometimes you just need to send us some rain, then some more rain, and then a few more sprinkles. But the rain mixed with this heat is making for some pretty brutal days. Now, I do like that our 102* temperature dropped to 72* this evening. It was so welcomed. But the humidity!! I heard it will be back in the upper 90's tomorrow.
Dear Tree Trimmer:
I saw you eyeballing my huge oak tree out front. I thought I would stop by and see what you were doing. Well it seems like the new neighbor wants to trim it up. That would be nice. I wouldn't mind. But the tree is on my property. I just thought it would be nice to point that out. The tree trimmer suggested I let them trim it and then let the neighbor know it wasn't their tree. I DON'T THINK THAT WOULD BE RIGHT. And I can't afford you at the moment. So please, step away from the tree! (P.S. he did)
Dear Harley:
You picked up your first paycheck today. What did you learn? Do you remember reading in your work manual that you would need a picture ID to get your check?? Good thing you had put Grandma's name down to be allowed to pick up your check too. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been very happy to have to drive all the way back home for your ID and then all the way back to pick up your check!! Congrats on that first paycheck though!~!
Dear Barnes & Noble:
Thank you so much for the deposit you made into my account on behalf of the class action lawsuit settlement over ebooks. I don't even know what it is all about and yet I am getting to share in the settlement. I am beside myself and so anxious to start browsing and seeing exactly what I can buy with the $1.57 I was awarded. Yippee!!
Have a great weekend you all!!
Yea for Harley for her first paycheck! What is it for all your neighbors around you wanting to prune or take down trees/bushes that don't belong to them. That is too funny! The humidity would drive my bonkers. Actually, I have to say with the "dry heat" here, up to 110 degrees doesn't seem that bad but humidity earlier was like 11%.
ReplyDeleteAnd you are right, the weeks go by incredibly fast. How can we almost be done with June already?
betty
LOL! That is a good question Betty! This tree has always been a question of whose property it is on. It sits right on the line! We had our property surveyed years ago and the tree is ours. I should have just let them prune it and think it is theirs. But that didn't seem right to me!! Yes, dry heat is much better than this killer humidity!
DeleteGood for you in standing up to the "tree trimmer". Often, tree topping is offered up as the solution to reduce those "pesky" branch overhangs. However, that radical approach will harm your tree's health. If your neighbors persist, you could get an estimate from a certified arborist so you can at least maintain the health of your tree.
ReplyDeleteI am not planning on pruning this tree AT ALL. I just don't have the money. It has a few dead branches. I will look into getting those taken care of! Thanks for the visit!
Deleteit was a fast week. Fridays seem to come even faster in the summertime. I too got a refund so I can look for some new books to read but not from Barnes and Nobel. What a nice surprise. Hope you have a fantastic Friday!
ReplyDeleteLOL! I can venture to bet we aren't going to find much to spend that great refund on!!
DeleteIt's been pretty humid here, also. Plus they keep predicting rain but we're not getting it. And we need it! Maybe if your neighbors want that tree trimmed bad enough they will pay for it!
ReplyDeleteThat's my thoughts Jeanette! I just can't spend money on a tree!
DeleteHoly cow, I'm afraid your humidity would be my undoing.
ReplyDelete'Trying to recall my first paycheck (and failing miserably). Congrats to Harley! :)
PS - I, too, was 'awarded' $1.57 from Amazon. Decisions, decisions.
YAY! We should go on a spending spree!! LOL!
DeleteNo rain here for 5 days, 90* at 1PM, feels like 91*, 435 humidity. Not bad for the swaps of Louisiana. Thinking I'll get a glass of tea and go set in the rocker while the kids play in the yard. Sound like the cranks sold the house quickly, be nice to the new neighbors now. Enjoy the weekend
ReplyDeleteOMG! It was humid as all get out here today while we were mowing the lawn. The Crooks house was on the market just shy of 7 months! They lowered the price from $200,000 to $179,000. Haven't met the new neighbors yet. I'll be nice to them. As long as they leave my trees and bushes alone!
DeleteHave a great weekend!!!
ReplyDeleteYou too Holli!!
DeleteI got $3.71 in the settlement - be still my heart - LOL!
ReplyDeleteWe've had some humid days - and tons of really hard rains. But today is pretty and blue and the humidity has eased up. Still hot - but doesn't "feel" as hot. And there is a nice breeze blowing!
Linda in VA
Whoa! Linda, you got the big bucks!! Thank God for breezes!
DeleteFunny I was thinking the same thing about time speeding by. In our community the developer planted these fast growing trees on everyone’s front yard. They looked nice for a couple of years, but this type of tree has roots that stay on the top. So by now, a dozen years after the planting, everyone’s lawn is gone because of the spreading tree roots. Yeah, the builder cheaped out. Now we all have to do something about these trees.
ReplyDeleteHowever will you decide how you are going to spend you big windfall?
It'll be hard to decide Lynda!! Shame the builder took the cheap way out. We have a lot of huge, beautiful trees here. Unfortunately so many of them are Cottonwoods. Not my favorite because of all the blowing cotton!!
DeleteI, too, got $1.57 from B&N. Which means we both bought one eligible book in the time frame. Here's the explanation: http://www.slate.com/blogs/moneybox/2016/06/21/apple_credits_online_accounts_of_consumers_after_company_was_found_guilty.html
ReplyDeleteThanks for the explanation Liz. I didn't even realize they were cheating us!! Dirty dogs!
DeleteI got $42.12 from B&N. Wooohoooooo
ReplyDeleteWOW! You must spend a bit more than me on ebooks. I usually go for the freebies or the deeply discounted!
DeleteWhat's with your neighbors and all the trimming they like to do on your property??? Congrats to Harley for her first paycheck. I still remember mine. Just stopping by on a short break from reading. Don't get to wild with the rebate you got!
ReplyDeleteThat's a good question Gram. This big oak tree sits right on our property line. I should have just kept quiet and let them trim it. Somehow I thought that didn't sound right! Hope the reading is going well.
DeleteI love this post! I will complain about the weather. No rain for weeks now. Storms are 'supposed' to hit this evening, meanwhile, I am watering. In West Bloomfield, if your neighbor's tree is hanging over onto your property you have the right to trim it. I've had to do this with a neighbor's ugly willow that is mostly dead. A branch fell onto my fence this spring and actually loosened the boards. And those piddly little checks from class action suits are hardly worth all the trouble - unless you are the lawyer, lol.
ReplyDeleteThank you Denise. I'm complaining about the humidity!! I don't care if the neighbors wants to trim the tree at all. All I care about is that they don't expect me to pay. Cause I'm not wanting to pay to have a tree trimmed. It doesn't bother me how it looks. I agree about the piddly little refund checks. I was being funny!!
DeleteTha humidity is so brutal. I remember it from living in New Jersey when I first came to the US. Here the dry heat is brutal and that large fire in our county, though not real close to me, is a reminder of a different kind of danger. I miss the mellow weather of old Sweden sometimes. Congrats to Harley.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine that the dry heat is brutal too. Especially when it brings on all of those wild fires! Stay safe Inger!!
