It is Sunday evening at my house. I would like to say it is quiet. Justin and Paige left a couple hours ago and the kids' boy/girlfriend arrived. Harley and Josh are hanging out in the reading room and Darian and Kat are watching a movie on his laptop in the other room. I don't know about this life! I wish we could skip the whole dating scene. No, I really don't wish that! It is just different and I will get used to it. Maybe! Anyway back to looking out my window. It is cloudy. Looks like rain. We haven't had but seconds of sunshine all week. I hope this coming week brings more sunshine!
AS I PONDER....
Recently I was on the blog of a friend, Life & Faith in Caneyhead, and she was talking about the number of posts she had on her blog! I never knew where to look (at the top of the dashboard). I am shocked to find that I have 1746 blog posts. Wow! I have had a lot to say! Also, I recently learned from another blogger friend, Lynda Grace An Hour Away, about a place you can use to print your blog, Blog2Print. I plan to spend some time on that site seeing what I can come up with. Wouldn't it be fun to see some of your blog posts gathered into a little book?
WHAT I AM LEARNING...
This is the final week of memorizing Matthew 6. I have kept up pretty well. I think I can recite it all (with some little hints). I have truly enjoyed memorizing this verse. And I am keeping this old brain of mine active.
Matthew 6:33-34
"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."
I need to make a trip to the plant nursery so I can create some flower pots to take to Grandma and Grandpa's grave sites. I promised Richard I would carry on with this. My mom and step-dad were cremated (and so was Richard) so we have no graves to decorate. We usually do a balloon release for them on Memorial Day. And on their birthdays. And other special days when we want to remember them. So off to get some bright red geraniums this week. Richard's favorite!
WHAT I'M READING....
I am reading The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty!
WHAT I'M WATCHING...
We are watching Billboard Music Awards! And Harley is in heaven! She loves these music awards. (boyfriend went home).
WHAT I'M HEARING...
Unfortunately I am hearing Justin Bieber! What a spoiled brat boy singer!!
WHAT'S ON MY CAMERA...
This weeks pictures came from Harley's camera! They are a fishing excursion she went on with Darian at the nearby Dillon's Nature Center (just across the road from us)
WHAT I'M DRINKING....
Right now I am drinking an ice cold Pepsi. I don't have pop very often but tonight we had pizza for dinner and a Pepsi sounded good.
WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE KITCHEN...
Monday...Chicken Pot Pie
Tuesday...Breakfast Casserole & Toast
Wednesday...Elvis Burgers & Fries
Thursday...French Onion & Chicken Casserole
Friday...Pizza
Saturday...Chicken Kabobs & Rice
Sunday...Salisbury Steaks & Mashed potatoes
A QUOTE I WANT TO SHARE...
This is very hard to do. But I am sure it would be worth the effort to practice!
HAPPENINGS IN MY BACKYARD...
The birds are coming! So far I have seen Orioles, Blue Jays, Cardinals, Robins, Doves (a couple of varieties) and black birds. We also saw a red fox this week. In the daylight! Wonder where he is living!
A PEEK INTO MY WEEK...
This week will be pretty much the same everyday. Get up early and drive Darian to work. On Monday he wants to go to the bank and open his checking account. Then I will pick him up each day as well. Harley and I will begin to clean out his closets so we can start the painting process. (The one I have been putting off for almost two years).
A FINAL THOUGHT....
Just in case you did not see this on the Internet this past week, I am going to share it here. Harley and I found it to be so hysterical and I can't quit laughing. I think we all need a good laugh as a final thought today.
How cool to have seen that red fox! It is good as you know to have the kids be at your home for some of their dates, you can keep an eye on them. Yea that Darian's room will finally be painted, but a fun project for you and Harley.
ReplyDeleteBetty
Yep, I need to keep an eye on them!! LOL! Oh young love!!
DeleteI've had 3 books created from Blog2Print - love them. Wait for sales tho. Wonderful look at you currently.
ReplyDeleteI will look for sales! Thanks for the visit!
DeleteHi Paula - how lovely to see you are creating beautiful lively flower filled pots for Richard's parent's graves ... it gives time to remember, and especially Richard and your family ...
ReplyDeleteHave a good week ... the fishing trip looks fun - cheers Hilary
They did have fun Hilary!!
DeleteI too am hoping for more sunshine. They say it's going to get warmer here and I'm ready for that. Hope your Monday is a good one!
ReplyDeleteNo sunshine here yet. More rain!
DeleteHey Paula. I decided to join you in the practice you started - My Life List. It was a fun exercise. And I love how you have a more relaxed method to this posting.
ReplyDeleteThank is great Elaine. I will be over shortly!!
DeleteI want to be friends with the Chewbaca mask lady, her laugh is infectious!!
ReplyDeleteMe too!!
DeleteWell the party is started
ReplyDeleteAnd what party is that, Bro?
DeleteI was laughing along with the Chewbaca mask lady too! It was hilarious. She's getting famous not. I saw she was on Good Morning America or somewhere today!
ReplyDeleteYes, one funny video can make you famous!! It was so funny!
DeleteI agree, "My Life List" seems friendlier and easy-going (than SWD).
ReplyDeleteHarley has such an eye for photography, doesn't she? I'm no expert, but that close up of the fishing reel looks like something a professional would take.
Thanks Myra! Harley does seem to have an eye for it! I enjoy her photography. Notice how she watermarks it now? That's so I can't take credit! Hahahaha
DeleteHiya Paula! Turns out radical objectors can be more casual and carefree, right? SWD, buh bye! I love the Life List graphic again this week. Are you doing them yourself? They are wonderful! Harley has a great eye for photos. I think my fave is the hook, but I like the view from her eyes. I saw the Chewbacda video yesterday and thought it was wonderful. She was so simply and honestly happy. It was infectious.maso glad you gave your readers a chance to see it if they missed it. Yikes! Great quote, easy to read, tougher to do, eh? Love it! So nice of you to carry in with the cemetery tradition. Such a respectful thing to do. I made the cemetery run last week. Mom likes a flag at Dad's grave, so I do that. Then OF gets his flag too. Love remains...
ReplyDeleteYep! Buh bye is right! And I don't miss it at all. Maybe I am a rule breaker. No, I guess if I was then I would still go over and link up and use my Life lists. Hmmmm! No, I promise I won't. Yes, I make my graphics over at PicMonkey. I think I'll keep this one! You should go make you one for your Gramma Log.
DeleteThanks for the heads up about PicMonkey. I checked it out and then realized I might be able to use an app I had. I just added a graphic that I designed after reading your above reply. Let me know what you think! I don't miss SWD, but I did enjoy the posts that some folks wrote. T.he whole thing makes me feel...snarky. ;-)
DeleteI like your graphic!! Good job. I still go and read some of the SWD posts of people that I liked. And I still comment on their posts! Only one of them comes to mine now! {shrug}
DeleteOops...forgot to add - I am not off for the summer, but off for a bit. That fall in the parking lot two weeks ago was a bugger and I suddenly give the outward inpression of a MUCH more dilapidated ol' gal.
ReplyDeleteI wondered! Thanks for explaining. Hope you are healing up from your fall!! It is hell to get older isn't it?
DeleteYah! Not so thrilled about it either!
DeleteMe either, Gram!
DeleteOMG, I am cracking up at that video! So hilariously funny! I love that woman! I so want to be friends with her! Wouldn't it be a blast to hang out with her?? Too funny.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited that you shared about the Blog2Print! I'm definitely going to check that out. I'm always worried that my blog will crash and then I'll lose everything. Thanks for sharing that!
Have a great week. Thanks for the laugh too. Still giggling here... :)
Michele at Angels Bark
I can't wait to see what I want to publish from my blog!!
DeleteThat lady is from suburb here in Dallas. I love that video and she's a wonderful strong Christian woman. I've shared a few other posts on my FB regarding her as follow up to that hysterical video.
ReplyDeleteI read that book you're reading. I really liked it!!! I want to read more by her.
I knew about the printing sight but have never used it yet.
Great pictures by Harley!!
It is one of the best videos I have seen in awhile! We laughed and laughed!! The book I am reading took me a bit to get into it. I am enjoying it too!
DeleteI need to get to the nursery soon to pick out my flowers! The front of the house looks so bare! Love all of your pictures!! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jodi! Good to see you again!
DeleteMorning DJs were complaining about that video this morning. Amazing what people can find to complain about.
ReplyDeleteI've always known where to find the blog post counter. I keep meaning to post when I reach a milestone number, but I don't think of it then. I'm at 1843 right now with 5 scheduled, so 1848 total.
She was all over TV yesterday! She is hilarious. I enjoyed her video and laughed our loud! Good for you on that impressive amount of posts!
DeletePaula...LOVE this..."My Life List"! While there are some prompts that are similar to the Simple Woman's Daybook, I love those you've included like "What's on My Camera?" Hmmm...Since I usually delete once I download the photos to my computer, currently there are NO pictures on my camera; but with a pre-K graduation on Thurs. and the weekend coming up, I'm sure there will be some soon!
ReplyDeleteWhat day do you normally post your "lists"?? I just may have to join you and try this for a while...my issue with any of the prompted link-ups...having the time (or taking the time) to read others' posts! I need to do better with that.
Thanks again for reading my SWD and I'll be seeing you soon!!
Thank you for visiting today Barbara. I quit doing the SWD because she became a bit 'over-bearing' about changing up the prompts. So I just made my own Life List. It is all about me and what is 'currently' going on in My Life. There isn't a copyright on that, is there? I post mine on Monday's just like I used to do with the SWD. And I still go there to visit some of the ladies who I have come to like! Such as You!! You are more than welcome to copy my format. I don't have a problem with that at all. I just don't offer the link up!!
DeleteNot sure how I'll handle it; before she posted the "new prompts" which were the same ones, I had used a few I saw on others' blogs and had changed them around to suit me. I didn't get the feeling she was being over-bearing; but changed the order back to what she had. I leave off some, since I am not a home schooler or a gardener; but have kept most of them. I like your format...but, since you don't do a link up, where/how do you get all of your readers? I am bad at not reading others', but I should if I want mine to be read!!
DeleteI'll give yours a try, perhaps every other week to start and see how that goes?!
Thanks again for the info and for reading!!
I guess I just would rather do it my way. I have reasons for feeling she was over-bearing. My readers are just ones that usually come to read my blog anyway. I didn't really find that I got that many readers from the link-up at SWD. And you know what, not once did Peggy come to visit me!!
DeleteWe have had tons of sunshine the past week for which I thank God because I needed energy and gray day upon gray day saps my energy dry. Hope the sun starts shining on you soon. Tell Harley I am very impressed with her photography.
ReplyDeleteWe have finally been partly cloudy today! Bits of sunshine. Looks like more storms tonight though!
DeleteThat video is the bomb, wouldn't it be fun to have her for a friend!
ReplyDeleteWe will begin cemetery visits soon, I decorate with silk flowers and then in a week or two we will pick most of them up and store them for next year. It is easier for those who mow.
We plan to be cremated but have a plot in the cemetery just down the road, and some ashes will be buried there, one of our daughters felt it was important to have a place to visit and bring flowers. We used to plant real flowers but it is such a job to water them and we visit and decorate at about six or seven cemeteries in a 30 mile radius so it takes one long day or a couple of short days. We also trim around the stones.
I always enjoy your journal and I enjoyed Harley's view of the world! She is very talented! :)
I don't know if I could laugh like that everyday!! She is the bomb!! Thank you for your kind words to both me and Harley. She does have a talented eye for pictures, doesn't she?
