Dear Darian: You did the right thing. This week Tuesday was Senior Skip Day at school. I left it up to you. I told you to do what you thought was right. And I would support you. You did the right thing. You chose to go to school. And you found that your weren't the only senior there. In fact, not many were missing. Love, Granny
Dear Harley: Oh my! I know that you didn't want me to call this young man's mother. But I did! And she was very nice. And very glad that I called. She said it shows that her son is dating a girl who has a parent who cares for her. Ha! I told you it was the right thing to do. And, yup, you can go home with him tomorrow to watch movies. See you by 11 p.m. though! Love, Granny

Ahh lovely post.
ReplyDeleteThank you Wendy!
DeleteOh - so beautiful! I love that you decided to let Darian choose. I love that you called "that boy's mom" and it all worked out. and a lovely tribute to your own mother. I can't imagine my mom being gone, although I know it will happen. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you Red. I hope your weekend is a wonderful one!
DeleteLovely post and a wonderful old photo of your Mom and you! Dating oh my...yes back when we were in our teens it was so fun to look forward to a weekend date! I was only allowed to date after I was sixteen and then only one weekend night and I had to be home by 12:(
ReplyDeleteThat is pretty much the rules here. Except she has to be home by 11 p.m. There is nothing to do in this small town after 11. Except get into trouble.
DeleteLove your post. Hope you have a happy Mother's Day also. Hope the date goes well. Have a wonderful weekend. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Stacey! I wish you the same!
DeleteI was just thinking about 'Friday Letters' this week! Cute twist on the title :)
ReplyDeleteYou know, sometimes Mother's Day (and Father's Day) is plain hurtful. I read another blog yesterday that said something like, wouldn't it be nice if our mothers had visiting privileges once each year? It brought to mind that splendid Diamond Rio song, "One More Day."
... and I'm going to get teary-eyed if I keep talking, so I'll jus' say, 'bye now'!
Amen to this Myra! They are smiling down on us, though!
DeleteWise to call the mother for Harley's young man :) Safer that way and it does protect Harley, although of course she won't see it that way.
ReplyDeleteGood job for Darian deciding to go to school. Very wise he was in that decision. Funny thing is on our senior ditch day it was the good smart kids like the valedictorians and kids in student government that skipped and the normal kids went to school :)
We appreciate our moms, we appreciate them more after they pass I think.
I hope you have a very Happy Mother's Day Paula!
betty
Yes, I will call them every time. I will also plan to meet his parents if this lasts longer than over-night! LOL I am sure that is true of all of our loved one...to appreciate them more after they pass. That is why I advocate letting them know while they are alive!! Happy Mother's Day Betty!
DeleteAh, so not many tried senior ditch day. At least Darian got the memo. I only found out about my senior ditch day afterwards. (Didn't notice it the day of.)
ReplyDeleteGlad you called Harley's date. Teens can get mortified by such stupid stuff.
Mortified is the right word. But she got over it! We didn't have a senior ditch day when I went to school. Or I didn't get the memo either!! LOL
DeleteI SO Adore the picture! Sounds like your grandkids are on solid ground. Suppose it is because you are taking the lessons you have learned and using them. ;)
ReplyDeleteHope you have a Happy, relaxing Mother's Day!

I hope they are on solid ground. I am tired of raising kids so I hope I've done right by them. Happy Mother's Day to you Barbara!!
DeleteGreat photo of your and your mom. I love that she's looking at you and not the camera. It such a tender-looking moment in time.
ReplyDeleteI was probably being a brat is why she had to look at me. I love this photo too!! Happy Mother's Day Gram!!
DeleteThanks for the Mother's Day wishes. I'm assuming being a dog-mom counts?? :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a spectacular Mother's Day and that you get treated like a queen!
Great job with Darian and Harley too. They're lucky to have you!

Sure being a dog-mom counts! Thank you for our wishes Michele!
