Outside my window...
Outside my window the sun is shining and the sky is that beautiful blue of a springtime sky. A very light breeze. I have the windows open. The temperature is 55 degrees.

I am pondering...
I am pondering how close it is until Darian will be finished with high school. Only 2 more months. He is going back to Oklahoma very early Wednesday morning (2a.m.) to complete his enlistment process. Hard to let go of a kid who is rapidly becoming a man!!

I am thankful...
I am thankful for the man Darian is becoming. Thank You Lord for watching over this boy!!

I pinned this to my "Dreaming of a White Christmas" board. What a cute idea for our high school graduation tassels. I have Richard's, mine, and soon Darian's. They will be hanging on my tree this year.
I am creating...
Nothing much being created around here right now. We have company! Creation doesn't go much beyond a menu plan this week.

Moving Forward...
My word for 2016 is Forward. I am moving forward. I finally went through almost all of Richard's clothes and made a huge contribution to Goodwill. All the shirts are bagged up and ready for Paige. I know that it took me over 18 months. So what! That is just how long it took me. I might not be doing things as fast as others think I should be doing them. But I am moving forward.

I am learning...
This week's verse:
Matthew 6:17-18
But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who see in secret will reward you.

In my backyard...
In my backyard are empty birdfeeders. I have to make a trip to buy some seed. I am seeing a plethora of Robins right now. Today there was a visiting dove and a few Cardinals. I am sure they are wondering what is going on that this lady hasn't filled her feeders.

A peek into my week...
This week my brother is here signing the papers to sell his house. On Tuesday Darian has Forensic practice and then will leave early Wednesday morning to go back to Oklahoma. This time he will only be gone for the day. Harley will go to youth group on Wednesday. Darian has Marine babies on Thursday where he will attend (hopefully) as an official Poolee now. Friday, Saturday, Sunday are free of plans currently!

One of my favorite things...
Don't we all love spring? Isn't it a sign that winter is almost over and summer is on it's way. My favorite time of the year is summer. So I love spring!!

Hey Paula! Good to catch up with you! Wow, one graduating; me too. It is going to be tough but it is the natural course of things. Sounds like Darien has made a big decision! I love spring too. Our weather has been wonderful, but it's thundering now -- beautiful out, but thundering.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Fancy I have been thinking about you and wondering what became of you. It is so good to see you again. It is the natural course, I know, but nevertheless, hard to see them go!!
DeleteThose images of the magnolia are stunning!
ReplyDeleteI don't recall having kept my graduation tassel, but that's sure a novel idea for the tree.
PS - 'Just realized my refrigerator door is B-O-R-I-N-G. That.must.change! :)
Yes, it is the most beautiful site to see out my window. The magnolia stands next to two Bradford pears that are blooming as well. Surely, you kept your tassel. I hope you find it! Send me a pic of fridge when you get it all decorated. LOL
DeleteI really like those ornaments with the tassels inside.
ReplyDeleteYou are grieving, moving forward, and doing things in your own good time. That should be enough! Some people are very uncomfortable with death. They want everyone to 'move on' quickly so they don't have to think about it. Well, that's them.
It's hot here and very, very windy. Typical West Texas spring day!
Thank you Dame. Grieving is hard enough without having people tell you how they think you should do it. We are all different. We love different and then we lose different..
DeleteThat is so cute with the tassels as ornaments :) I saw mine the other day when I was going through some things; might have to do something similar :)
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely moving forward this year, no matter how small the steps :)
I'm sure the birds are anxiously waiting for the feeders to be filled up :)
betty
Yes, yes...lets all hand out tassels on our trees this year and share the pictures!!
DeleteThat is a really cute idea for the graduation tassels, I still have ours and have often wondered what will I do with them? Thanks for sharing that idea!
ReplyDeleteThere is no widows timetable...no one has written that book so do what ever you feel the most comfortable with!
I made menus for three nights at the grocery store, salmon and salad, Moons over my Hammy...eggs and ham and cheese on sourdough grilled, Ham and turkey sandwitches...the rest of the week will fill itself in or unfold like a mystery.
:)
I love Moons over my Hammy!! Thank you very much FSOF for your grieving advice!
DeleteI like summer, but I love spring. Can't wait for the spring flowers. Taking a bag of clothes to the Salvation Army in the morning. Yes, I could have done it faster, but I'm glad I did it. Take good care!
ReplyDeleteThank you Carol! I like spring but I LOVE summer!
DeleteI don't think 18 months is too long to wait before going through Richard's clothes. Sometimes people do it too quickly and then down the road, they end up looking for something that was given away too soon. I hope no one has been unkind to you about hastening whatever 'time' they think you should have taken. I think some folks who are uncomfortable with grief are like that until they have to go through it themselves. Officer Friendly has been gone over ten years and I still have one of his shirts. It's just a black turtleneck. OF was over a foot taller than I am and a large fellow, I saved his black turtlenck for the coldest winter nights when I have a hard time getting warm. It isn't easy grieving when you have to stay in the present for the grands in your care. It will come together in your time. It gets to be your time. Gosh . . . have you caught yourself using present tense sometimes yet, when speaking of Richard? I caught myself doing that, not too often, but GN did it for a long time after losing her mother and then OF. It is such an interesting phenomenon. It was part of the good-bye. Your quote for the day is perfect! What time is Sunday soup dinner? I think green bean soup is my favorite! I'll just stick my empty soup mug over the back fence, ok?
ReplyDeleteOh there have been nasty comments made but it didn't make me do it any faster. I might be stubborn that way. Some of those who were judging me had gone through it themselves!! But, everyone grieves differently. Yes, I often refer to Richard in present tense. It is crazy but he's still here. I'm glad you GOT it with the quote!! I really wish we had a real fence between us and not just a virtual one. We would have so much to share!!
Deletespring is my favorite season.
ReplyDeleteIt is for many!
DeleteThe ornament tassels are a great idea. And who cares if it took you 18 months to clear out Richard's stuff? You have to do it in your time, and it's amazing that you got it done this quickly.
ReplyDeleteI am no where close to being done with going through Richard's things. I might never be done!! I love the ornament idea as well!
DeleteI love the idea of the ornaments but I would keep them out year round.
ReplyDeleteThey would be cool resting in a bowl in the china cabinet!
DeleteI think the cardinals may have already hatched a brood, spring is so early this year.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for that!
DeleteI like spring, but it doesn't like me! My allergies are awful right now!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for the tassels! Wish I knew where mine was! Probably in Ohio - somewhere in my parents' house!!
Linda in VA
Yes allergy season can be awful! Hope you are better soon!!
DeleteHi Paula - enjoy your visitors ... and have a very Happy Green St Patrick's Day tomorrow .. those coloured eggs look fun. 2 months before Darian leaves school .. I'm sure you're anxiously looking forward, yet feeling so proud for you, him and the family ... enjoy - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteI don't know how anxiously I am looking forward. It will certainly be different
