Thursday's Question

I am just full of questions! I love to ask them! Ask my grandkids. They warn all of their friends before they come the first time.

This week I would like to know how you handle the Christmas greeting.

Do you say Merry Christmas?

Do you say Happy Holidays?

Or do you say something else?

  1. I listen to what is said to me and then I respond accordingly; if they say "Merry Christmas" I say the same; if they say "Happy Holidays", so do I. If they say nothing, me too :)

    1. That's a pretty good plan. And very politically correct. I am usually a Merry Christmas kind of person

  2. My community is about 40% Jewish. We have a smattering of Muslims and Buddhists too. If I am the first one saying something, it is usually Happy Holidays. If someone says Merry Christmas to me, then I reply in the same way.

  4. I say Happy Christmas or Merry Christmas and I ask "are you enjoying the holidays?" I don't think I've ever said Happy Holidays...

    1. We do consider it a holiday here in the United States. And since we have so many different religions it has become politically correct to not say Christmas for those who don't worship the Lord Jesus Christ. I say Merry Christmas

  6. I say both. Merry Christmas if I am sure they celebrate it and Happy Holidays to any one else!

  7. I do the same as some others - whatever they say to me - I say back to them. I know a mixture of people in this area who share different traditions...

Sorry not to have chimed in earlier, my friend. I'm back home 'barely' with an eye infection and son's head cold. Chat soon!

  9. I am a State employee in a post-secondary academic setting. I mostly say " I hope you enjoy your semester break." But outside of work, it's Merry Christmas.

  10. I often just say, "Ho ho ho." I don't know how that got started. I enjoy hearing wishes of "Merry Christmas," too, or "Happy Christmas."

  13. Hello, Paula, so glad to hear from you today. You made me pause to think, then the answer is easy: I say all of the greetings, depending on the situation or my mood, I guess: Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Enjoy the Holidays, Have a wonderful time with your family, Enjoy the day, ..... Nancy
