Once again it is Friday. And a three day holiday weekend. I had almost forgotten. I promised Richard I would always decorate his parents graves, so I best get to crack-a-lackin' and get the flowers out to the cemetery. We plan to release balloons for my beloved. So now on to my letters.
Dear Mother Nature: I do hope you are not tired of hearing from me. Because I think I write to you more than anyone else. I hope that is okay. I cannot believe I have turned the furnace back on. Come on and make up your mind. It is only 50*. Where is our happy medium going to be? Would you write me back, please?
Dear USD 313: Thanks for taking care of the grandkids for the past nine months. I'll take it from here now. I have some plans for them for the summer. I have some chores and some fun things listed. And I promise not to check the calendar too often to see when it is time for me to return them to you!
Dear Darian: Well today is the day! Your first day at your first job. You went to bed early. You have your work clothes ready. I hope you eat a good breakfast. I'll drive you across town. Send me a text when I should come back after you. I am really proud of you. And I love you!
Dear Brooke and Paige: I'll be thinking of you as you travel to Salt Lake City this weekend. Be safe. Feel my love for you as you make this pilgrimage to see your grandpa/great-grandpa one last time. Return home to us quickly.
Dear Beautiful White Butterfly: Thank you! (If you want to see what this letter is about, go here.)
There you have it. My letters for today. If you want to write some just leave me a comment and I'll come see you. Maybe one day I'll figure out a link-up again!
Mother Nature is incredibly indecisive in Wisconsin, too. One day I'm hot, next day I'm huddled under blankets.
ReplyDeleteI hope your summer is great. Do you camp with the kids?
NO! I am not a camper. We might go for a picnic at the campgrounds though. Darian is working 12 hour days/6 days a week this summer. We probably won't see much of him. Have a great holiday weekend Jennifer!
DeleteWe've turned back on the furnace, too. What's this all about?
ReplyDeleteI wonder if it is going to be a very hot summer!
DeleteCloudy and cool here; will probably have the furnace on tonight. Wishing the kids a fun summer vacation and much success with Darian's job!!

I turned mine on again this afternoon. It is wet and rainy here! Thank you Betty for your well wishes!
DeleteHave a good Holiday weekend Paula, Good luck to Darian and safe travel to the girls.
ReplyDeleteThanks Wendy. You too!
DeleteIt's been hot one day and cold the next here. Hope you have a great weekend!

I hope you have a great weekend as well. Looks like ours will be rainy!
DeleteI want to take Kate Jasmines to the Veteran's Memorial in our town on Monday and then go by the cemetery and put flags on my grandfather's and Daddy's graves.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have a good plan going Barbara!
DeleteYou crack me up about writing Mom Nature!
ReplyDeleteSounds as if Paige and her mother are going through a hurtful time; I sense that's weighing heavy on your mind, as well. Hugs!
Yes they are. Brooke's grandpa is dying. She has lost Richard, her mom, and now her grandpa in the past year. It is hard on her. And it makes 3 grandparents for Paige in the past 10 months! Thank you for the hugs!
DeleteIt was a cold day here, too. I had to pull out my blanket for the couch and my cat was quick to cuddle up. He spent most of the evening in my lap, which he usually only does when he is cold. I hope you and your family all have a safe weekend!
ReplyDeleteWe have spent the past couple of days curled up with blankets too! Hope your weekend is a good one!
DeleteI am sure your grandkids are looking forward to visiting and doing special things with you and I am sure your own kids are very glad of the support you give them by doing all this. We too keep flicking the switch on the heating - I used to have a rule that the heat went off as soon as it was May 1st but these days it just gets toooo cold some days!!!! I love that you were visited by that butterfly - we are all atoms and those atoms circulate so who is to say that within that butterfly are not atoms of Richard coming back to you. Have a peaceful and warmer weekend, Paula :) Special Teaching at Pempi’s Palace
ReplyDeleteSenco, my grandkids live with me. Well, 2 of them do anyway. I like your explanation about atoms. Fascinating ideas! Hope wherever you are is peaceful and warmer too!
DeleteThe weather has been weird, hasn't it. We're unseasonably cold. But then again, we were way too hot just a couple months ago. Weird weather year.
ReplyDeleteYep, the weather is weird this year It is poring rain here today. So we are cozied up inside!
DeleteCertainly agree with your letter to Mother Nature. It is 40 degrees this morning and yesterday my furnace died. No one out to look at it before Tuesday. Hope the weatherman is right and it warms up. Enjoy the holiday as best you can.
ReplyDeleteOh no! My furnace died when it was freezing outside. And then the A/C when it was 100* Hope you get it fixed soon!
DeleteI'll be thinking of you as you release your balloons. Interesting reading the comments, too. My furnace died just over three weeks ago and . . . I just turned it off. It will be a part that needs replacing from all the cycling on and off this past winter. The part is still covered under warranty and I'll catch up with it when I get around to the annual furnace service call. I'm still trying to decide if the cash I saved on my heating bill was worth feeling a little nippy for the last 3 1/2 weeks. YES!
ReplyDeleteHa! Ha! I agree that saving cash is worth being a little chilly! I let two teenagers talk me into turning it back on. Thanks for thinking of us. I hope the weather clears enough that we can release our balloons. Right now it is pouring rain and has been most of the day!
