Throwback Thursday

These pictures were taken in November 2006. Justin and his family had moved to Olathe, Kansas (about 3 hours from us) in the summer of 2005 and Paige started school there in the fall. Grandparents aren't supposed to have favorite. We all know that! But this little girl and her Papa always had a really tight connection. From the very day she was born right up until the day he died. He talked about her as if she were his own child. He loved her so much.

These were taken during her First Grade Year! We had driven up to eat lunch with her at school. In fact, we went there or she came to our house at least every other week. I know that 3 hours isn't very far away, but we felt like she had moved to China. We were used to seeing her every single day.

Now one another note....I don't know why I ever wore my hair like that. Yuck! It was too long and too curly. What was I thinking? One of those bad hair years for this granny.

  2. What a lucky little lady, your Paige! :)
... then again, it's heartbreaking that she lost 2 of her biggest cheerleaders in just the last year.

That's such a cute picture with her head right next to the sign reading, "Paige"!

    1. It has been hard for her to lose her two grandparents so close together. But she is a strong little girl. I never even noticed the "Paige" right by her head. And that one wasn't even her. There were two Paiges in her class

  3. 3 hrs. does seem like a huge distance when you are used to seeing them each day. Lil and Spence moved 5 hrs away about 10 yrs ago and it still breaks my heart.

    1. We get so spoiled seeing them all the time and then when they move away we are devastated. Probably more so than they are

  5. Apparently parents have favorites, too. My siblings and I recently figured out who my mother's favorite child is, though mother will not confirm or deny. We have known for a long time who my dad's favorite was. I am neither my mother's nor my father's favorite . . . I noticed the Paige name tag near her head right away. I thought it was planned! Olathe is where the Kansas School for the Deaf is.

    1. I never had a favorite as my sons were growing up. Due to circumstances I now have a favorite :) That is her name but not her paper! And, yes, there is a school for the deaf in Olathe.
