FOR TODAY

January 19, 2015

Outside my window...

Outside my window it was dark with a clear sky. The stars look close enough to pluck right out of the sky. The air is cold and crisp. But not freezing. We are enjoying a warm spell. It won't last.

I am thinking...

I am thinking it will be nice to have Harley home from school tomorrow to help me finish in the kitchen. Won't she be thrilled :)

I am thankful...

I am thankful that I am healthy. And mostly happy. Things could be so much worse.

In the kitchen...

My Menu plan for this week is:
Tuesday...Corn Dogs and French Fries
Wednesday...Church for kids; salad for me
Saturday...Cranberry Chicken
Sunday...Balsamic Roast Beef with potatoes and carrots

I am wearing...

I am wearing my uniform of the season. Yoga pants (that have never been to yoga) a tee shirt and long, warm socks.

I am creating...I am creating more space in my pantry. I have been cleaning out the food cabinets and throwing away a lot of expired, unused items.

I am going...I am going to have to go to the grocery store to replace some things that needed to be tossed.

I am wondering...

I am wondering just how long we will continue to have temperatures in the upper 50's.

I am reading...

I just finished Attachments by Rainbow Rowell. My review is below this post.

I am hoping...

I am hoping for another good week. One day at a time seems to work.

I am looking forward to...

I can't think of anything that I am looking forward to except for spring.

I am learning...

I am learning that raising kids, the second time around, is not harder but just different. And more tiring.

Around the house...

This is week 3 of the 14 week organizing challenge. So far I haven't completed one week. But I keep working on all of them. So I am not behind. I'm just not done. Does that even make sense?

I am pondering...

I am pondering on exactly how I want to arrange the cabinets now that I have so much empty space. Any good ideas on how to set up a kitchen?

A favorite quote for today...

One of my favorite things...

Since Richard died I have been doing lots of reading again. One of my favorite things.

A few plans for the rest of the week:

Another week much like the last one. Practices and school and church. No in town games this week.

A peek into my day...

Since I don't have a picture to share this week I leave you with this Bible Verse:

  1. I like the Bible verse you listed here, Paula. I'm going to try that roast beef recipe; it sounds yummy. I have a good one for the crock pot, but always good to have two roast beef recipes I do believe! When I'm setting up a kitchen, I always try to see what makes sense to go where. Like dishes closest to the dishwasher, pots/pans closest to the stove, etc. Its hit and miss and sometimes what I think will work actually doesn't when its all put together, but then usually I don't change it since we seem to move every 3-4 years or so :) Good luck with it!

  4. Love those quotes ... and I'm especially drawn to that sepia-toned picture of the hands parting that old book. Cool!
I'm not participating in the organizational challenge -- but I know what you mean. Slow and steady gets 'er done!

    1. I love Pinterest. That is where I get my quote. You are right about slow and steady. Because sometimes I am slow and lazy

  5. Okay, I seriously need to go and buy yoga pants. Since I have started doing the daybook, I have noticed so many people wear yoga pants, and I feel like I am really missing out on something! I keep putting off organizing my kitchen and my bedroom closet....ughhhhh. I kind of just wish the old stuff I don't need would walk out on its own ( mind you, some of the stuff in the fridge just might do that!). Yes your decluttering challenge makes sense. I think it is easier to work at your pace, and even if you are behind, you are still moving forward. Ah yes, a day at a time....sometimes moving forward at an hour at a time is what we can get our head around doing and those baby steps all add up in the end. I hope you have a good week ( and happy reading!)

    1. LOL....I only bought my first yoga pants last year when I kept reading that is what people were wearing. Now I am hooked. Much more comfortable than jeans.
