The Smells of Christmas

5142I will admit that I am not the biggest fan of all things Christmas. But I love the smells. The cinnamons, the citrus fruits, the pine trees, cookies baking, gingerbread. All things Christmas. And one thing I will do every year is cook some potpourri on my stove to waft that wonderful smell throughout my house. This morning I peeled two oranges, a handful of whole cloves and a couple teaspoons of cinnamon (I am out of the stick kind) and threw them into a small pan on the stove and my house smells wonderful. You will just have to trust me since we do not yet have “smallanet”! Hope everyone is doing well and preparing for a great week ahead.

  1. I bet that does smell good, Paula! It reminds me a little bit of the cider my mother in law would make around the holidays. I have to agree, the smells of Christmas are really good ones!

  2. Great idea and it reminded me that I have to check and see what kind of Christmas spices I have in my cabinet. Thanks for your comment, I feel the same way.

  5. This morning, tucked away behind a basket, I found the two Glade sprays that cover the Holidays. Did a little spritzing. You, however, have done it right! Thanks for the wishes and the recipe for your heavenly aromas of Christmas.

  6. Ya know, I saw this yesterday and sort-of automatically dismissed the idea on account it contains oranges. (I'm not a fan at all.)
Then again, my subconscious took hold and won't let go. I suspect there's a stove-top potpourri in my near future! :)

  7. I love that smell!! In my scented wax burner I have the fir tree smell. We have a fake tree, but I love that smell. I pretty much like anything that smells like food for scents. That's why I am a big fan of stove top potpourri.

    1. I just hung two live wreaths on my front door. So when I want that smell I will just go stand on the front porch LOL!
