My Simple Woman's Day Book December 15th Edition

FOR TODAY

December 15, 2014

Outside my window...

Today was a crazy day in Kansas. We had a 4.1 earthquake about 50 miles southeast of my house. And then that was followed with a tornado warning here in my county. And currently it is 53* and raining. What happened to December?

I am thinking...

I am thinking that crazy weather goes along with my crazy life.

I am thankful...

I am thankful the kids at my house are healthy and happy.

In the kitchen...

Monday:Leftover Meatloaf sandwiches
Tuesday:Harley gone...salads for Darian and granny
Wednesday:Kids Christmas party at church
Thursday:Home wrestling match;hamburgers and fries after
Friday:Home basketball game; pizza after
Saturday:Tater Tot Casserole, Brussels sprouts
Sunday:Spaghetti and garlic bread

I am wearing...

I am wearing black slacks, a maroon, white and grey ruffly top and black socks (I wore this to a church program today)

I am creating...

I am really not creating. But I am thinking about something. I'm just not quite sure how to put it all together.

I am going...

I am going to finish all of my Christmas things this week and hopefully just try to enjoy the season.

I am wondering...

I am wondering what is the record number of sneezes in a row! I have just sneezed 8 times and it is about to kill me!

I am reading...

I am reading The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. It has been around a long time. All of my grand-kids have read it and they think it is way past time for me to read it. So I downloaded it onto my Nook and started it yesterday. Have you read it?

I am hoping...

I am hoping for a peaceful week.

I am looking forward to...

I am looking forward to morning. That is as far as I can go. One day at a time.

I am learning...

I am learning there are just some things you have to let go of. It might be hard; but just let go.

Around the house...

I need to finish vacuuming and dusting.

I am pondering...

There is much to ponder. This week I am pondering Psalms 27-4. I didn't get it memorized this past week. So I will get busy and work on it tonight. So far I am staying on schedule with my memorizing. Do you find that the older you get the harder it is to memorize?

A favorite quote for today...

One of my favorite things...

One of my favorite things is a simple glass of eggnog.

A few plans for the rest of the week:

Our week is much like last week. Monday,BB practice, wrestling, practice and Boy Scouts. Tuesday, wrestling practice, out of town BB game, Wednesday, both have practices; Darian is going to Wichita to see The Hobbit with his English class and the kids have their church youth group Christmas Party. Thursday, wrestling match at home for Darian, BB practice for Harley. Friday, 1/2 day of school, wrestling practice for Darian, at home BB game for Harley. Saturday and Sunday: remains to be seen yet!

A peek into my day...

I'm off to work in a sec, but wanted to say 'gmorning' and wish you a sweet day. (One day at a time, right?)

PS - That meatloaf sandwich sounds yummy! That, and a BIG old glass of egg-nog. :)

  2. My mother always sneezes seven times. Not 6, not 8 but seven and she always says "Oh my goodness, what is wrong with me". God Bless You.

  3. Great reminder about the eggnog, Paula; I haven't gotten or had any this season. I must get working on that :) Wow, that is weird weather; especially the earthquake! So true sometimes we have to let things go. Lately, it must be the dust or the pollen outside, both hubby and me have had lots of sneezes in a row, powerful ones too, LOL. You are right, they make one tired after so many sneezes. I hope you accomplish what you want this week to get ready for Christmas!

  6. Last week was particularly warm for us, too. Upper 50s! But it's getting colder again. Winter still wants to show its ugly head!

  7. An earthquake and then tornado warnings, that is crazy weather for December! We have no snow here in Nova Scotia yet, but had a huge storm last week which produced flooding and high winds. If it was snow we would still be digging out! The Outsiders is amazing, one of my very favourites and the movie is good too, if you can find it. I love the poem in it, it reminds me of my dad. Sometimes letting go is the hardest thing you will ever do, yet sometimes, it is the easiest. I am finding it hard to let go of family stuff, but also finding it necessary. I do find it is harder to memorize as I get older! I hope you have a wonderful week!

    1. We haven't yet had any measurable snow. I have heard about the snow storms in Nova Scotia. I haven't yet gotten very far into the books but I've been told it will be memorable. I hope your week is wonderful as well.

  8. I thought about you when I saw that the tornado warnings for us were being shifted North. We have named the days that we get tornados and earthquakes the same day as quakenado days. We had two tornados touch down yesterday. I have not read The Outsiders, but Elexis did. She wasn't fond of it. She loved To Kill a Mockingbird though, so all is well. (that is my favorite book). Sneezing that many times hurts. I have only gone 7, I usually average 5 though. When you finish your dusting want to start on mine?? It's a never ending battle. I vacuum at least 4 times a week. I have to with 3 shedding dogs and a cat. Are you enjoying getting to watch the kids do their activities?

    1. No, I don't want to do your dusting. I'll send Harley. I just left your blog. We must have been commenting at the very same time. I love the word...quakenado! Elexis will be the first ever that I've heard of that didn't like the book. And To Kill a Mockingbird is on my TBR pile.
