"Do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others." Philippians 2:4
It was these two who taught me that it is not my own selfish desire that is important. But the ability to love and consider others is what really matters in life. You can do this even if you don't believe in God or the Bible. These two have give my life the purpose that I need. Especially now...I selfishly cling to them. They are my reason for getting up in the mornings. The reason I am putting one foot in front of the other. They need me...and I need them! I am thankful that God put these two on my doorstep on December 15, 2008. They are my purpose!!
Sometimes we don't understand the ways of God when something happens until years later and then some things begin to make sense. They are a handsome and beautiful purpose!

That is so true. It has taken me a few years to understand why I am raising them. God put them here for me on purpose!
DeleteHi Paula .. December 2008 must have been a shock of 'a gift' - but what a great gift they've been for you .. and I'm sure they feel the same way - they have stability and a happy home, with a loving grandparent taking care of them ... lovely purposeful tribute ... Richard I'm sure adored them too ... great photo - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteIt was a shock. And we never dreamed it would be permanent but I am glad that it is. Yes, Richard was very proud of both of them.
DeleteEverything happens for a reason. So glad that you and the kids have been blessed with each other.
ReplyDeleteI keep hearing that everything happens for a reason. I would like to know the reason for all that happens! Does that make sense?
DeleteWhat two beautiful reasons to get up in the morning! I'm so glad that during your time of need, God has given you two such beautiful gifts!
ReplyDeleteMe too!
DeleteWell, methinks 'Captain America' and his gal-pal are pretty awesome reasons to keep on keepin' on!
ReplyDeleteCall it pie-in-the-sky, but I really hope to meet them someday.
PS - Sorry, my hubby is being such a brat since we got home from the hospital last night, I've little 'computer time.'
Please know I continue to hold y'all in my thoughts and prayers ... particularly as the holiday season nears with all it's 'expectations.'
You never know! Wouldn't it be fun? I would love to take them to the southwest someday. There is so much they would love seeing. How is hubby, by the way? I've been wondering about you....
DeleteThanks, sweet friend.
DeleteFor SURE I now know I'm not cut out to be a caregiver (much less, a nurse!). Tom came home yesterday and has been a real brat. (Not the word I had in mind, but I suspect this is a G-rated blog.) Not eating, not exercising ... and the biggest, badd-est obstacle in MY 2014, those D**** compression stockings!
My respect for the nursing profession has increased by Olympic-worthy leaps and bounds.
LOL...I would love to hear more about Tom and compression stockings. Those things could make me think of a few non G-rated words myself.....
