My Simple Woman's Daybook-October 13 Edition

FOR TODAY October 13, 2014

Outside my window...rainy, cold, dreary

I am thinking...a little sunshine is needed to brighten my world.

I am thankful...for all that I have even though I am cranky and cold and frustrated today.

In the kitchen...
Monday...Ham and cheese paninis
Wednesday..church night
Thursday..Macaroni Chicken & Cheese
Saturday..Shepard's Pie..Birthday Cake
*recipe links

I am wearing...NOT yoga pants but sweat pants and a tee shirt...barefoot!

I am creating...I printed out some pumpkins. I might make a banner for the fireplace. I am thinking about a vignette for the front porch for fall...we'll see.

I am going...to plan, to contemplate, to decide. I'll let you know.

I am wondering...is it the weather? The grief? The kids? Stir crazy? Just blue?

I am reading...The Gray and Guilty Sea by Jack Nolte and Scott William Carter. A Nook freebie. Mystery. Not bad. So far.

I am hoping...I don't know what it is that I am hoping for. Hope?

I am looking forward to...The sun shining. My mood lifting. Energy. Feeling better.

I am learning...That all of this takes time. Time....time...time

Around the house...I have some ideas for this week. Some plans. We'll see what happens.

I am pondering...Teenagers. Moods. Eyes rolling. Back talk. What is it really all about.

A favorite quote for today...

One of my favorite things...
Squash..acorn, butternut, spaghetti, zucchini any kind. Baked and drizzled with butter. Salt and pepper.

A few plans for the rest of the week:A short school week. Monday through Thursday only. Then a long day of debate hosting on Saturday.

A peek into my day...

  1. Paula, I am sorry you are having a down day today. Perhaps as the week progresses and the weather changes to a brighter side things will look a bit brighter for you. I love both your quote and the peek into your day. They both say SO much! praying for you, my friend.

  4. Thanks for the recipe links. I think I may try both the soup and the sour cream and bacon crockpot one. They both look delish! Hope your week improves. Rainy, dreary weather is always tough on me too.

  5. I'm in love with that music quote, Paula!
It sounds as if your weather is empathizing with your grief process, doesn't it? It never fails to amaze, how rainy gloomy weather can bring me down. I think that happens to lots of people.

  6. I tried that chicken spaghetti recipe you had on here, Paula, a few weeks (months maybe) ago that goes into the crockpot. Loved it. Next time we make it we are going to saute the onions first since they were a little a strong for us (we aren't raw onion people, but cooked onions are just fine) but otherwise the recipe was a hit!

Rainy cool days are never fun to have to deal with, especially as you are dealing with all on your plate, foremost your grief. I hope the sun shines quickly and warms up a bit for you! I do admire you for dealing with teens, I kow I don't have the stamina to deal with that again with attitude, etc.

    1. Yes, Cheesy Chicken Spaghetti...one of our favorites! I chop the onion in my chopper, really fine, so we really get the flavor of onion not the onion Harley wouldn't eat it if she found any onion pieces LOL It is a beautiful sunny day here today. And yes, teens are a challenge...but we'll get through it together!

  7. I usually feel cranky when it's cold and rainy, too. It's the worst, especially when I have to actually leave the house to do things. I think every cold rainy day should be a national stay-home-in-your-pjs day.
