Post number two for me today......#30summerdays. The prompt is:
Get over the hump of the week. How were you productive today?
I am old school when it comes to paying bills. I still pay some of them with a check and put them in an envelope and mail them. Some I pay on-line. And I do mostly on-line banking. But it is hard to change an old woman. Our Bank of America was recently purchased by a local (Kansas) family and will be making the change over to that. That is stressful enough for me for one summer. New checks, new debit cards, signing up for our checks to be deposited....I hate those kinds of things. This is when I miss my husband the most.
What are you doing today to be productive??
That would be a hassle to get everything changed over from one bank to another; since they created the change, the bank should do a lot to help people with it. I do 100% of our bill paying online, but only because I'm sooooo lazy to write checks, write out envelopes, etc. I like the point and click and its done technique :)
ReplyDeleteFor my productivity today, I worked 9 hours (usually 8 hours and an hour of overtime)
betty
I am glad you had a productive day. And an hour of overtime on the paycheck will be nice. I need to get all of my bills converted over. Just takes time. The bank will help with the change over .It is just me stressing about it all
DeleteThis is my first year of bill-paying - part of the new 'stay at home, take care of mom and other things' life. It is stressful. But I think I have a system. I would just have to cry if I had to change everything. I can't believe you still write checks....fascinating!
ReplyDeleteLOL...not very many but yes, I still write checks!
DeleteI did this same job of bill paying yesterday. I always procrastinate doing this task because I don't really like it. I have some on auto pay and I pay most online through my online banking. I almost never write a check and mail it, only when I have to. I have one of those right now, laying on the counter with the envelope addressed. It's been there for days. I must go out and get a few stamps to keep on hand for this purpose! The gutter cleaner guy is probably wondering where his check is! I went ahead and scheduled all the payments for the next cycle so I don't have to do it again so soon. I've always been the bookkeeper in our house.
ReplyDeleteThis is all new to me...Richard always did it. I wish he would do it again. I know that is not going to happen!
DeleteMy husband takes care of the bills and always has. I seem to take care of everything else. But someday, when his eyes have gotten so bad he can't see ... I will take over the bills too. And I dread that day for a few reasons. I don't enjoy doing that kind of thing ... and for years I have felt like our devision of duties was lop-sided. I didn't complain because I want things done a certain way and he doesn't really care. So the problem is more mine than his ... but someday I will be doing it all. Oh well. I hear your pain about bill paying.
ReplyDeleteI think that the division of chores between husbands and wives of our generation has always been lop-sided. I think the younger people are doing a better job of it!
