If you are here for the July Blogging Challenge, keep scrolling. But this is Memory Monday and Sandy would love to have you join us. I would love to see your old pictures too!
This picture was taken in 1959. It was Easter and we were all going to church.
My mom, my three brothers, and my sister.
We were standing on the porch of a friends house.
This was just a few months after my dad committed suicide.
Looks like we all have new clothes.
That didn't happen very often.
Be sure to go visit Sandy if you want to share some Memories!
Darling photo. I so love seeing the older photographs. I think I spot some little white gloves there in the photo, remember what a special time it was to ware those. Easter was a special time for new clothes. A bitter sweet picture for you I'm sure; thanks for sharing.

Yes little white gloves. I remember loving those things.
DeleteI am the one with those horrible black and white shoes though!
DeleteThe dreaded saddles...oh yes...had to laugh when I saw them, we just couldn't get away from them. lol
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet picture, I like the hats. Sorry to hear about your dad. Interesting you would mention new clothes. I always got my cousin's hand-me-downs. Or my mom made my clothes. Oh, how I wanted my very own store-bought dress.
ReplyDeleteThat is why I mentioned the new clothes. It is because I am surprised that we had them. I usually wore my sister's hand me down. Well, until I go bigger than here. It was a rare, rare occasion that we got new clothes. I would be that my dad's sister got them for us for THIS Easter
DeleteI think Easter is one of my favorite holidays!
ReplyDeleteI love the fresh air, the promise of new things, and of course the celebration of the Resurrection.
Beautiful picture!
Thanks. I love Easter too! Much less pressure than holidays like Christmas. My favorite is Thanksgiving. Or it used to be
DeleteI thought it said "moments" not "months" and was like... HOLY FREAKIN COW your mother was a hard ass! LOL
ReplyDeleteMy mother WAS a hardass!
