M is for Montego Bay

Montego Bay Jamaica

Montego Bay is Jamaica's second largest city. And the streets are packed. With both the locals and the tourists. It is not known for it's elegance. It is not a, shall we say, tidy city. But it is lively. And colorful. And very interesting. We docked a ship here and spent a day exploring the streets of this city.

My husband and I decided that we would just stroll the streets instead of taking any of the offered shore excursions. We shopped and watched people. And nibbled at some of the islands delicacies. There was plenty evidence of Bob Marley, the "King of Reggae". This was his stomping grounds. We soaked up the 'people watching', that we so love, sitting in outdoor bars sipping those luscious rum drinks that Jamaica is  well known for.

Before we left Montego Bay I got a henna tattoo on my lower leg. Trying it out to see if I would want the real thing someday. I still do not have a real tattoo. But I am not going to say that I won't do it someday.

(this is not my tattoo but I had one like this one)

  1. A friend of mine got that very sun image as her first tattoo. She got lots of color, though. It's gorgeous!

  2. Montego always reminds me of the Beach Boys song "Kokomo" :)

  3. I'll cheer you on to go get your first tattoo. I'd come hold your hand too if I wasn't so far away.

  4. I've been to Montego Bay as well... honeymooned with my ex there at the Couples Resort. They always wanted to braid my hair (it was long) and everyone seemed to be stoned. I love listening to their native accents, however...

    1. It was the same with my friend. She did have hers braided finally just so they would leave her along.

  5. I loved Jamaica. We stayed at an all-inclusive in Runaway Bay. We hiked the Dunn's River Falls. It was such a neat experience. I would love to go back and stay in Montego Bay.
