L is for Los Angeles

Los Angeles

We flew to Sydney, Australia in 2000 to board a ship for a cruise from Sydney to Bangkok. We flew from our home state of Kansas to Los Angeles. We had a layover first in Denver, Colorado. Things went bad in Denver and it was really going to be touch and go to get into Los Angeles before our flight to Sydney left at midnight. At that time there was one flight out of LAX to Sydney per day and it left at midnight. The airline people in Denver assured us that the plane would not leave without us. We arrived LAX and guess what? You are right. The plane was gone. The airline took very good care of us however. They put us up in a nearby hotel, gave us food vouchers, and sent us on a tour of Los Angeles. So we spent one full day touring LA. Something we would not have gotten to do had our plane arrived on time. A rainbow to a cloudy day.

These are just some of the things we saw while our impromptu visit to Los Angeles.

  2. It was really nice of the airline to pay for a tour of the city. I've never heard of them doing that before.

    1. Well you probably never heard a fit like the one my husband threw at the airport! I think they would have offered us anything to just get rid of him. LOL!

  3. Never been to LA--never much wanted to go. I loved SF, and Napa Valley, though!

  5. I've only got to spend the day in LA too. I want to go back for a few days to see all there is. I found Mickey Mouse's star, so it was all good. :)

  7. I've been to LA. Was on the Leeza Gibbons show. Stayed with my best friend in Huntington Beach for a night, too. It's a really dirty town. It seems you're either so rich it's sick...or so poor that it's pathetic. No middle class. What a shame.
