Today's blogging prompt is asking us to list five blogs that we read on a regualr basis and why. Well I read a lot more than 5 blogs on a daily basis. I read my blogs through Google Reader so it makes it easy to just jump onto the Reader and get all my updates. I read blogs for a variety of reasons. Entertainment. Education. Amusement.
1. a thousand words is a blog written by Jen, a mother and wife, who lives in New Zealand. I found her blog when she was still living in England and getting ready to emigrate to New Zealand. It was a fascinating story so I stayed to follow along with the move. And she takes the most awesome pictures. I love her organization tips and the recipes that she sometimes shares.
2.Boss Nurse Speaks is another blogger that I have followed for awhile. She used to write a blog called Driven to Distraction that I ran across during the days when I mostly did memes. She, too, has a pretty fascinating story. She is also a nurse, like me. So that gives us a connection. I lost her blog for awhile and then out of the blue found a comment that she had made on another blog...and found her again. She is funny, honest, and interesting.
3. Mom off Meth is a new blog for me. I haven't been reading it for very long. The interest is due to my son and his long history of meth addiction. I read it to see what the addicts are seeing from their side of the coin. I haven't really introduced myself to her yet. It is sad what drugs do to people's lives.
4. Young House Love is a blog I follow, along with about a millon other people. I don't know if it is that many but it is one of the BIG DIY blogs out there. I first found John and Sherry when they were talking about their DIY backyard wedding. I was hooked then. I loved all the crafty things they were doing. I am a secret DIY wannabe. I do a few projects around our house. But mostly I just read about what others are doing.
5. Ooph.com is another blog or site that I follow regularly. It is written by Stefanie Mullen a well known resource for tweens and teens. She tells stories I can relate to now that I am again fully immersed in the teen world. She offers advice and opinions. She has recipes and talks about travel. I like reading it!
That is a sampling of the 65 blogs that are in my Google Reader that I try to stay on top of. I am glad to have the blogger world open to me. What would I do all day if I couldn't slip away for awhile and pretend that while I sip my coffee, I visit with friends.
Since this blog challenge has started I have picked up a couple of more blogs that I have added to my reader and I am looking forward to getting to know these ladies more.
Now what I am wondering is this: Do you use Google Reader? What are your plans now that they have announced that it is going away? Have you tried other readers? Please share.
I am excited to see what blogs everyone else is reading. Go here to see for yourself.

Hey Paula! Thanks for the shout out!! I really appreciate it. It is totally sad what drugs do to people's lives, but recovery is awesome! I look forward to connecting with you and reading your blog as well. Thanks again:)

DeletePaula, thanks for the shout out! I love your blog as well. I switched to Feedly when I heard that google reader was going bye-bye. I'm still getting the hang of it, but it uses the same keyboard commands to move through feeds, and I'm liking it so far.
ReplyDeleteI tried Feedly and it annoyed me!
DeleteI like Young House Love too..hopefully some day we will buy a house (soon I hope) and the DIY stuff will come in handy!!
