Today's prompt: What is your BIGGEST Pet Peeve?
I have a lot of Pet Peeves.
Like people talking on their cell phones as they walk around the grocery store pushing their cart.
People talking on their cell phones as they drive their cars.
Phony people.
Kids who think it is okay to leave their trash in my car.
Husbands who think they need to hold the remote control in THEIR hand all the time.
But my BIGGEST pet peeve of all time (no pun intended) is people who cannot be on time!
If you are supposed to be at work at 8 o'clock in the morning, that doesn't mean 8:10
If we are eating dinner at 6 o'clock in the evening, that doesn't mean 6:15.
If I say that Christmas dinner will be served at noon, why do you show up just after noon and be surprised that we didn't wait for you.
I hate (and I know that is a strong word) but I HATE going to the doctor and having to wait for more than an hour in the waiting room. In fact, I don't wait anymore. I get up and leave. My time is just as valuable as his time. Yes, I understand that there are emergencies and appointments that just might run a bit longer for one reason or another. Those are not the times I am talking about.
Receptionists can tell you if the doctor is running late or has an emergency.
But I am talking about over-booking. Cramming too many patients into an hour.
I can't tell you how many times I have been in a doctor's waiting room and heard more than one patient come up and say "My appointment is at 1:15". Heck, that is when mine, and hers, and his, is at also.
I quit waiting on my doctor years ago.
And guess what?
He is hardly ever late with me anymore.
We just have to speak up.
Waiting for a phone call is another 'not on time' thing I dislike. If you are going to call back on Tuesday, then call on Tuesday. Don't expect me to be nice to you when you call on Wednesday. Or worse yet, Thursday.
If you are picking up my kids for something and you are supposed to be here at 9, then be here at 9. And if I am picking up your kids at 9, have them ready to come running out the door when I drive in the driveway.
At 8:55.
Cause I HATE not being on time!
I am not talking about those rare times when you are late. We all have a life and will be late sometimes. I am talking about those who are habitually late.
YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!
Now, don't be late.
Hurry over here and tell us your pet peeve.
One of my friends is habitually late. Actually, saying that it's a habit implies that it happens a lot. It doesn't happen a lot. It's CONSTANT. We've told her time and again that it bothers us, but she just can't seem to handle time management. It drives me up the wall.
ReplyDeleteI have a couple of people in my family like this. Makes me crazy too!
DeleteI 100000% times agree with you. In fact, I can't believe I left it off my list. I have harped on this so much to my own family (my husband is always late...I tease him he would be late to his own funeral if I didn't plan it). My daughter now says "if your early you are on time, if you are on time you are late, and if your late, your in trouble." My time is as important as anyone else's. Good post.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I don't think there is anything that will make me more heated.
DeleteOh yes lateness is something that really grinds my gears! I have to lie to certain people about what time to meet me for things so they actually show up when I really need them there! It's terrible!
ReplyDeleteI tried that too. But after a few times they figured it out and then just adjusted themselves.
DeleteOMG--I could have written this. I can't believe I didn't write about people being late!
ReplyDeleteYep, that is my biggest pet peeve of all!
