Saturday Nine

Welcome to Saturday: 9 . What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

1. Where were you when you heard that Michael Jackson died?
  • Was watching TV last night and they broke in to say there would be a special about the death of Michael Jackson.

2. How do you think that he will be remembered?
  • It is sad to say but I think he will be remembered as a weirdo!

  • 3. What was your favorite Jackson tune?

8. Did you like Ed McMahon on the show?
  • He was okay

9. What else will you remember McMahon for?
  • Going bankrupt

Thursday Thunks

Welcome to the June 24th version of Thursday Thunks!
(which we always seem to post on Wednesday)
Where we make you think a little bit before you blog!
This week we will answer some crazy questions brought to you by Berleen, the number 1559 and the color calico.

1. Someone knocks at your door. You answer it. It's a kid from the local school selling candy bars for a fundraiser. Do you buy one?
Nope, I don't buy anything that is sold door to door. Now if I know the kid I might invite them in and see what they are selling and buy something, but if I don't know them then I say "No thanks".

2. The end of the world is tomorrow and you are out of milk - do you go buy some?
Heck no....if it is the end of world I am drinking whiskey, beer and smoking....I gave up cigarettes 9 years ago and if the world is ending I am going to smoke until it does.

3. Have you ever picked up the phone and called someone that you hadn't talked to in years?
Nope.......

4. Whats on your computer desktop background
A collage of pictures from the trip to the Kansas City Zoo that we took the grands to in May

5. What was the very first movie you saw in a movie theater?
Geeze Louise....I can't remember that far back.

6. If you had to take a 10th grade science test, do you think you would pass?
I surely hope so....I am a Nurse!

7. Describe heaven.
A beautiful place with no illness, all my family and never having to work again.

8. Has a place that you lived ever been infested with some sort of insect or rodent?
Yep I lived in a house beside several wheat fields and we had a horrid mouse problem....I moved!

9. When you were a youngin', did you hide in the clothes racks at department stores?
No...my mom would have thumped me...besides I don't remember ever going into a department store as a kid

10. Is there anything in your vehicle that is broken?
Nope.....I keep my car in top notch condition

11. What is something in your house that people would be surprise to find?
Well I am not telling that here or people will be looking for them.

12. Do you agree with the death penalty?
I sure do!

13. Whats your favorite type of bear?
Teddy

14. Where was the last place you went?
I just got back from driving across town and taking the kids to the local Boys and Girls Club...

Nope

Grandma Has Lost it!

Well today was to be the first day of camp for my grandson. He was going to spend the week going to the Dillon Nature Center, which is not far from our house. It is a day-camp, with an all nighter on Thursday. And let me tell you, he has been very excited.
We took him out and got him equipped with a fishing pole.

And we got him a Coleman lunch box.

We equipped him with sunscreen and bug spray.

He packed his own lunch on Sunday night....lots of goodies and of course some PB&J sandwiches.

Sunday night he was off to bed and said...."I am so excited that I don't think I can sleep"
Of course he did.....I got him up early this morning and Papa said that he would take him and grandma could go back to bed.
When I got up Papa said, "Boy, granny you have really goofed up this time!"
I guess camp doesn't start until next Monday.
At least everyone had a good sense of humor about it.
And he has everything he needs and will be ready to go.
Just have to make some new PB&J

My Facebook site is in Pirate English

Okay, I have to admit that I also have a Facebook site....The main reason was to play Scrabble with a friend of mine in Canada. As if I don't have enough to do!! But, while reading a blog, somewhere out there on the net, I found out that you could change your language on Facebook to Pirate English. So I had to do it just to see what is was all about. And it is a hoot!
The space that is labeled 'share' on normal Facebook sites is called 'What be troublin' ye' in Pirate English.
And friends are mateys or me hearties! Time is told by how many 'shots of rum ago'.
And instead of an Inbox.....It is 'Bottle o' messages'
A hoot!
I will have to leave it like that for awhile just for the fun of it.

Maybe I will become known as the Pirate Granny!

Friday Fill In's

And...here we go!

1. All children alarm their parents, if only because you are forever expecting something to go wrong. .

2. Show me a good loser and I will show you a good person.

3. Holding a new grandchild is like eating an entire box of chocolate liqueurs at one time.

4. Too bad that all the people who know how to run the country are busy traveling and partying.

5. I have yet to hear a man ask for advice on how to combine liquor and mixer .

6. It is impossible to think of any good meal, no matter how plain or elegant, without wine or salt in it.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to working , tomorrow my plans include going to the lavender fields and Sunday, I want to relax in the pool with the grand kids. !

Go here if you want to play along.

I loathe Weeds

I have a type A personality. I am a perfectionist. Even in the garden. I cannot stand weeds. I need my garden to be perfect. So therefore it seems that every day that I am off I am out in the hot blazing sun pulling weeds. And I hate Bermuda grass the worst. You cannot get the whole root out of the ground. It is growing way down there.....all the way to China, as my mom used to say. I need to put down that weed cloth stuff first but I never do. I always spend the summer pulling weeds....

The Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY June 8, 2009

Outside my window...

Today, outside my window, it is sunny and breezy and the temp is only 65F. What ever happened to the wonderful hot summer days that I long for?

I am thinking...

I am thinking those days will soon be here and I will be complaining about how hot it is....no, not me!

I am thankful for...

I am thankful for the job that I have. So many are without jobs these days. I know sometimes I gripe about having to go, but I am thankful for it.

From the kitchen...

From the kitchen there has not been much going on. I don't much like to cook in the summertime. I spend a lot of time outside and then I try to find something easy for the meals. Last night we had take home Chinese. Pretty good.

I am wearing...

I am wearing my usual Monday scrubs as I will soon be leaving for work.

I am creating...

I am creating some ideas for our Fourth of July picnic that I will host for the family.

I am going...

I am going to work soon. Do I type that every Monday?

I am reading...

I am reading 'Sea Change' the next in the Jessee Stone series.

I am hoping...

I am hoping today's shift goes off without a hitch.

I am hearing...

I am hearing 'All My Children 'in the background.

Around the house...

Around the house we are going to turn the office into a bedroom for the boy and rearrange my bedroom to accommodate a girl.

One of my favorite things...

One of my favorite things is making my grand kids happy. They deserve it.

A few plans for the rest of the week:

I hope this week to get some more flowers from the nursery and plant the baskets and the front flower beds. Might even mulch the garden and the back flower bed.

Here is picture thought I am sharing..

A little bit of humor
