Outside my window...

It's spring. And spring in Kansas can mean any kind of weather. We are currently under a tornado watch with large hail and high winds possible. But that is most days at this time of the year. It is 73* with 48% humidity. Very cloudy and the winds are calm. We will keep a watch out for when to shut things down.

Pondering..

Oh so much to ponder. One week ago today the youngest girl of the family I dog sat for, while they went to England, broke her leg. She was riding bikes with her older brother and they collided and wrecked. She ended with a fracture to her femur. They took her by ambulance to Wichita (about 50 miles from here) where she had two rods placed. After a short stay in the hospital she was released to continue her recovery at home. Meadow is 9 and very tiny. This is a terrifying experience for her and for her mom. Mom is a nurse who used to work in the OR so she knows all the risks. I've been helping some with her care. The first few days were learning to transfer and mainly offering emotional support. Life with kids is fun!

Watching...

I haven't watched much since our last visit. The news is depressing. We will soon see the Mueller report. I imagine it is going to be so heavily redacted that nothing will be learned. For an administration that keeps screaming they have done nothing wrong they sure don't want anyone to see this report. Kind of like his tax returns!! I wonder what he's hiding. Because I am sure he is hiding something.

Reading...

I just finished A Crime of Passion, the 7th book in the series, written by Scott Pratt. Another good crime drama. I like his books. I think there is one left in this series. I am currently reading/listening to I Am Watching You by Teresa Driscoll. It's a story about the disappearance of a teenage girl. I am just on chapter four so haven't an opinion yet.

Eating...

It's salad and sandwich time of the year. My favorite. I have been eating sliced turkey with cheese rolled into a leaf of lettuce. YUMMY. And for dinner tonight I had a chopped kale salad with dried cranberries and black beans served with poppyseed dressing. If I keep eating like this I might lose some weight. (Not likely as Justin's lady friend made me a cheese cake for my birthday and I have eaten a lot of it. I sliced up what was left and froze individual pieces to enjoy later).

Planning....

I am planning to get my mower serviced. I mowed with it this past week and it needs some things done to it. And I have some "weed-eating" to do. Hopefully will not be as humid tomorrow and I'll get back out there. I also have some leaves that need raked and put into the polycart.

Growing...

I'm thinking of going down the road to the nursery and pick out some flowers to plant in a few pots. Doesn't look like I will be leaving this house right away so I might as well have some flowers to enjoy. Are you planting any flowers at your house?

Favorite things...

Bissell Pet Stain Eraser
On my shopping trip in Wichita last week, I purchased a Bissell Pet Stain Eraser. Little Bailey occasionally has an accident inside. This is the niftiest little gadget. Works like a steam cleaner but it is small like a hand held vacuum. I've used it for all kinds of spots on the carpet. (not just pet stains) and I am looking forward to cleaning my sofa and love seat. Might even do the carpets in the car. Check it out.

A quote to share...

Here's wishing everyone a Happy Easter! I cannot believe it is already this time of the year.

  3. Oh poor Meadow! What a terrifying accident indeed! I hope she makes a speedy recovery! I like that Pet stain cleaner; I'll have to look for it. Not that we have a pet, but see if it can help with some other stains we have. I like sandwiches and salads, especially in the heat. They are refreshing and can be healthy as long as I don't pack a whole lot of salad dressing on the salad :)

    Happy Easter!

  4. Hi Paula - glad you're helping ... poor kid - nasty breaks. Fortunately she's of the age when healing should be alright and she'll be right as rain in a few months. Good luck with the eating less and extra exercise. The Bissel Pet Stain cleaner looks interesting ... have a peaceful weekend - cheers Hilary

  5. Lightning was so intense last night I thought someone was on my deck trying to get in. Crazy weather! That x-ray gave me chills. I suffered a tri-maleolar fracture several years ago and the tibia popped out of my skin. Had my mower serviced on Tuesday. And anything that died over this harsh winter is not getting replaced in the garden. I think I'm ready for apartment living, lol.

    Have a happy Easter.

    1. I had a fracture in 2004. Two places in my lower leg and 2 in the ankle. It was awful. I don't think I am quite ready for an apartment but my son would like for me to be!

  8. Happy Easter to you too. There is no planting here until about mid May. We still have a change of frost here till then. Monday of this week we had rain mixed with snow and then today. Thursday, we are to see 75 degrees they say. Very much roller coaster weather here yet. The grass is beginning to grow but no mowing needed here yet. Maybe next week. It is such a beautiful time of year! So sorry to hear about that little one having such a bad break in her leg, but glad you can help. It sounds like both she and her mom could use a little encouragement.

    Love and hugs,
    'ma'

    1. It might be mid May before I get around to any planting. Ha! Today was cool but it felt nice. Yes, they both need lots of encouragement. I think it helps that granny has had a broken leg too!

  9. My word, Meadow does appear tiny. That x-ray gave me goosebumps. Wish I could summon some of your gumption for working outdoors. We're under another severe weather advisory so I'm like "What's the point?" HA.

  12. Scary to break one's leg. But it'll be a great story she can tell as she gets older.
