Outside my window...

What a beautiful day in November. It is sunny and 66* outside. So far, we are not having much in the way of wind. Although it is predicted for today. This is the craziest weather ever. All of this week we will have temperatures in the upper 50's. I am not complaining! Hopefully it won't mean snow and ice in April!!

Pondering..

Pondering the holiday season. It has begun. We put up and decorated the Christmas tree this past weekend. Every year I forget what a chore this is. There are all the boxes to drag in from the garage. Then the stuggle with getting the tree to light from top to bottom. (That took up the first day). This is the first year I have had a theme for my tree. Usually we just add a jumble of decorations we have collected through the years and call it 'traditional'. Richard always liked that best. This year my them is 'Country Glam with Silver and Red'. And I love it. It's still a work in progress but here are some of the ornaments:

Watching...

I am almost at the end of the current shows of Grey's Anatomy on Netflix. And we have been watching some Christmas shows!

Reading...

I have started reading When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi. Have any of you read this book? I am also listening to The Linclon Lawyer by Michael Connelly. Also, this month, we have started a Bible Study online with the Paper and Glam website: God and Glam. We are going to use the book Living The Christian Yearby Bobby Gross as our devotional. I read most of this last year but we will delve deeper into it during 2018, as a group.

Creating...

I'm creating a Christmas wonderland inside my home. What are you creating for Christmas?

Planning....

In the near future our plans include a few days of dog sitting our favorite dog, Allowishus (We call him Ali) His human mama is going to Utah for a marathon. We like it a lot when Ali comes to visit. (Even though it forces me into more exercise than I am used to).

What's in the kitchen...

This will be another week of flying by the seat of my pants in the kitchen. Harley is gone for dinner all week. She is completing her CNA course at the high school with clinicals at the nursing home. She is getting to go to the last nursing home where I worked before Richard got sick. And she is in love with the 'old' folks.

A final thought...

We had a last minute change up in our Thanksgiving plans here. Justin and a friend of his came over for dinner on Thanksgiving day. So Harley and I put together Thanksgiving of ham, potatoes and all the fixings. It was nice to have them over. Paige came and spent the night on Wednesday. She worked for Black Friday (which for her started at 11 p.m. on Thursday evening and ended at 9 a.m. on Friday) so she went home early on Thanksgiving. We also Facetimed with Darian. So it was a good Thanksgiving this year. How was yours?

  1. Oh, working Black Friday... I've been there. Does she have horror stories?

    1. I'm sure she will have some. I received this text at 3 a.m. "People who come and shop at 3 a.m. are the crazies of the world".

  2. Our dinner was great. I am having a decorating party in two weeks. I will gladly accept the help from my sons. I love themed trees! Glad you didn't spend Thanksgiving alone.

  4. Oh Paula, your tree is exquisite! I've never gotten the hang of 'tree art.' In fact, I nearly lost it this morning when we were decorating the lobby tree at my workplace and my boss kept criticizing every little thing. Bah humbug! LOL.

Your face mask photo is hysterical! You're so cute! A few years ago my DIL posted something similar on Facebook and we still chuckle.

PS - Curious to hear sometime your 'take' on how Grey's evolved.

    1. It's taken me a long time to figure out how to do the trees. I watched You Tube videos this year. LOL I am not finding these later Grey's to be as good as those in the beginning. Might be why it is taking me so long to get to the end of the series.

  5. Love the tree! I haven't read that book you mentioned; will have to wait for your review to see if I might want to read it :)

We were at Wal-Mart on Thanksgiving and asked the clerk how the day was going (we weren't there for Black Friday, just earlier in the day because we forgot something). Anyway, she said she was working 12 hours that day! Can you imagine??

I'm not doing a tree this year. Got a "get out of putting up the Christmas tree" free card and taking advantage of it. Hubby strung the outside lights :)

    1. I really, really liked the Lincoln Lawyer. My kind of book! The year Richard and I decided we weren't doing a tree is the year Darian and Harley arrived at our house on December 15!!!!!!

  6. I love other people's Christmas decorations but I don't put anything up. I'm too busy and rarely home. When I met my husband and he said he didn't care about decorations, I took that as a sign we were meant for each other. My holidays are 100% stress free. I do enjoy taking a ride with friends around the neighborhood with hot chocolate in hand and Christmas music playing on the CD while we look at beautiful decorations others have put up. Your face mask photo make me chuckle! I've never done a face mask but I want to try it. Have a super week!

    1. I might not put up decorations anymore when it is only me. We will see. My husband loved Christmas and he loved all the decorations. A lot! You have to try a face mask. Makes your skin feel amazing!

  7. Even though we have had very cold days and even a little snow this November, It has been sunny and today in the 60's, so I'm very thankful for that. Thanksgiving weekend was wonderful and I started decorating. By tomorrow I should finally be done with putting away fall and putting up Christmas. It's a challenge for me to get it all done these days. Enjoyed all your pictures and had a laugh over the face mask too. It is the most wonderful time of the year !

    1. Next week will bring us winter. So they say. I agree with it all being a challenge. Harley is so busy. She doesn't help much. So that leaves just me too!

  8. Love your tree!

That bible study and book sound like something I would like. I'm in a bible study, during the week and we are studying the book of Romans.

As always, I enjoy these posts of yours.
