Brilliant Christmas Ideas

I love ideas that make life easier! Don't you? And there are so many ideas out there to share. Today I am going to think about some of the things that make the Christmas season easier. Some brilliant Christmas ideas!!

Here are just a few:

I have used this idea. I have a single tote for all my tree ornaments (well, most of them) I use clear, plastic cups half the size of a solo cup and a piece of cardboard in between each layer. Billiant!!

Love these little Christmas sleighs. The kids always want to give something to their friends. Buy the candy at the Dollar Store and make up a batch of these easy gifts for friends or teachers!

Such an easy way to give cookies in a beautiful package. Just wrap an empty foil, wax paper, or plastic wrap box and ta da! Of course you have to make sure you are making small enough cookies to fit. These also make it 'safer' to mail cookies with a box of cookie crumbs arriving at the destination.

I used to always have a day when the grandkids would all come over to decorate the sugar cookies for Christmas. Putting the icing into these type of containers made it much easier for the little ones to decorate the cookies. I will admit I saw a certain little boy tipping that bottle up to his mouth for a taste of icing!! Ah, the memories!

Last, but not least, this is a brilliant idea. I haven't tried this one but I looks like it would certainly work. What kinds of brilliant ideas do you use at Christmas time?? Please share them with us here.

Have a great weekend readers!!

  1. The easiest thing we did (in the US) was simply not decorate. A nativity or two, and then as Christmas cards arrived, I'd hang them around the hall entry.

    Not decorating is VERY easy!

    1. Of course not decorating is the easiest. But so many people really enjoy decorating! I find that it helps me get into the spirit so much better when my house looks so festive. Everyone has to do what makes them happy though!

  2. I like the idea with the cups to hold the Christmas decorations :) I remember growing up we wrapped them all up with Kleenex. Got tedious after a bit. My one tip to share is for the tree, in my box of Christmas decorations and what not, at the very top of the box was the tree skirt and the extension cord, so when I put the tree up, both of those were handy; didn't have to go looking for them. I fear though I gave my tree skirt to son (had it for over 40 years) and not sure if he remembers where it may be.

    1. I still wrap some of mine in Kleenex, Betty! That is a great idea to put the tree skirt and the extension cord with the tree! I hope your son knows where the skirt is!

  3. What a great post! I love all your Christmas ideas, especially the first one. I think I'll use it myself, as well as the cookie box. My daughter loves making cookies, so I'll tell her about buying ketchup/mustard bottles to use for icing, she'll love it!

  4. We've made those little sleighs. I forgot all about that. The girls had a production line and had fifteen or twenty to give away. The ornament storage is brilliant and just solved a problem for me.

  6. I don't know if it's clever or lazy. I use a page of address labels and make tags for the Christmas gifts. I find some clip art to put on one part, and then I type in the "to" and "from" part. Print labels and stick on gifts.

Love the ornament storage and the squeeze bottles.

  8. Great ideas, Paula - thanks for sharing! I also like Red's idea above - keep the decorating (and everything!) simple! The holiday is about so much more than what our homes look like or what foods we serve.

    1. It is true that the holiday is so much more. But decorating helps me feel festive. And where is the harm??

    2. No harm at all. If you can get it done, by all means go for it. Christmas comes but once a year, so why not go all out?!

  9. Do you hot glue the SOLO cups to the cardboard. Myself I have become a gallon zip bag storage nut for everything

    1. No hot glue. I just set the first row on the bottom of the tote. Fill the cups with the ornaments, lay on a piece of cardboard, set up another batch of cups. I have three tiers (I think). Gallon zip lock bags work too!

  10. I'm definitely going to buy me some red solo cups! Most of our hang-ie things are living in bubble wrap ... but then, that's a big space-waster. Love the edible sleighs, too. I AM going to master the art of gift ribbon someday. It's just so stubborn and slippery, I wind up wadding it in a ball and throwing it in the nearest trash can.

    1. I think it is hard to tie ribbon too. I have watched a batch of You Tube videos to see if I can master it. You know you can find a tutorial on You Tube for ANYTHING! No kidding!

  11. That is what I need! I will buy some short fat cups and maybe I can get three rows. Great idea!
I don't know that I have any really great ideas...I do save cards and make some to and from tags...but I have a whole bunch now:)

    1. That is what I have. Some short fat cups. I think I get three rows of six or seven per row. I will have to take a picture of mine when I put the ornaments away this year! I like the idea of gift tags from cards. I love old Christmas cards!
