Dear Friday

Another Friday is upon us. Today I share my week in my Dear Friday letters. Please join me and tell
me in the comments that you wrote letters. I will come visit you!

Dear Grocery Store: You  sure were not bringing your A-game today! The store was dirty. Not good for a store that is less than 3 years old. Usually you are so clean. And being out of hamburger is unbelievable!!! I never heard of such a thing. But when we decided to get Chinese food and you had no lids for the 22-oz cups, that was it! What the heck was going on today?

Dear Mother Nature: I write to you every week. Have you noticed? Enough with the rain, okay? I need to mow. The grass is too wet. But it doesn't stop growing! I know we needed the rain. Can we stop for just a couple of days?

Dear David Letterman: 33 years on TV! That is incredible. Richard watched you every night once he retired. He loved Paul. We will miss you. Enjoy your retirement!

Dear Paige: On Saturday you will be 15. I cannot believe it. You have become such a beauty. The apple of your Papa's eyes. He would have loved to been here to see you turn 15. Celebrating with steak at Lone Star. Your favorite. I love you sweetie. It has been a tough year for you with your grandparents! Hugs and kisses.

Dear Brooke: I am so lucky to have you in my life. You still care for the kids and offer me support. And continue to love Justin as his 'best friend'. I would have loved to have kept you for my daughter-in-law, but I wouldn't change a thing with how it is now. Hugs for you and what you are going through too!

Ick with the grocery store! Seems they might need a new eye to look at their store! Isn't that amazing about David Letterman with 33 years on TV? We didn't watch him a lot since it was on so late at night, but always enjoyed him when we caught him. How could we be that old?

Happy birthday to Paige, sounds like such a wonderful young lady!

  5. Happy Birthday to Paige! :)

My grass needs to be cut...badly. The rain makes it grow too much, but I love how the rain is helping my sunflowers grow. I planted them a few weeks ago and they are already about two feet tall.

  7. I asked a mutual blog friend how this worked, and think I'm up to speed, but I don't see a meme linky thing? Can you clarify for me Paula? Wanted to add it to my other blog so I'd be ready for next week, but when I click on your logo all I get is the picture and looking around your blog I don't see a linky that says your next or something similar?

    1. Sandy, I quit putting up the linky.Just post in the comments when you do it. If I start to get more interest I'll do the link nky again

  8. That's almost disconcerting about the dirty, poorly stocked grocery. I wonder if there's not been a change at the top. If this continues, I'd "e" their headquarters.

I don't recall ever having stayed awake to enjoy Letterman's show. After Johnny retired, I sort of lost interest. But 33 years? These kinds of closures still bring a lump to my throat.

BTW, I'm happy to hook up to the Friday Letters chain once more! http://mevely317.blogspot.com/2015/05/friday-letters-may-15-edition.html

  9. Happy birthday to Paige!

Sounds like your grocery store was a little out of everything today. Must of been truck day maybe? Sorry you had trouble with them. I hope you have no more problems in the near future.
I hope the rain goes away so you can mow your grass. Its been hot and muggy here today. Hope you have a wonderful weekend. Blessings.

    1. My grocery store was just out of sorts today. It is a brand new Dillon Marketplace. An awesome store. I have decided not to return on a Thursday! I got the grass mowed and trimmed this afternoon.

  11. Dear Paula,
Thanks so much for visiting me at Abbie's Adventure Diaries. I had the chance to read through Smidgens Bits and Snippets and I am in love with the strong woman that you are. You are blessed to have such wonderful people around you and they are blessed to have a caring person like you around.

  12. Dear Friday letters is such a wonderful idea. Thanks for visiting my blog and leading me here. And I'm glad to hear you got your lawn mowed. I always find it amusing when for the first weeks in Spring it grows in odd ways - with little extra spurts of height here and there, like it's forgotten how to grow in a steady measured way. I almost hate giving it that first haircut of the year.

    1. I would love to have you join with Dear Friday's! Ha! Ha! I never thought of the lawn that way!

  13. Enjoyed your Friday letter! That's a cool concept. Did you see the David Letterman special that aired last week? It was really good and showed so many clips from all those years ago. Wow, how times have changed!
Sounds like you have a fabulous daughter-in-law, even if she's no longer classified as a daughter-in-law. I'm best friends with my ex too and it's so nice. In fact he's here right now doing the lawn... :)
Hope the rain stops long enough to get yours done.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend,

  16. Hi Paula

I'm on the roadtrip too. This was my first year participating in the AtoZ Challenge. It was crazy.

I like your idea to memorialize your week. If you are tired of all the rain, please send some my way. I'm in SoCal and this drought is really nasty. We can use any rain you can send us.

  18. Let me write a 'Friday Letter' to you on Sunday.
Dear Paula, Thanks to you and your book reviews, I have an interesting book to by my side as I sniffle and ache on my couch from something that the spring brought it, I guess. The Silent Gift by Michael Landon, Jr. intrigued me when I read your review and grabbed me when I read the first heading under Chapter One. It says 'Rural Minneaota.' Then the heading under Chapter Two says 'Brewster, Minnesota.' I know where that is! The second parqgraph of Chapter 2 begins with "Hand-knitted green mittens, matching the cap and scarf . . . ".
I was intrigued also, to learn that Michael Landon's son was a writer and wanted to see what kind of style he had. So thank you for mentioning the books you read. I ordered my copy through a second-hand book shop (before I got sick) and they transferred it at no charge to me from another store location to one close to me.
