Zippers Will Get Stuck

Life's Lessons: A to Z Blogging Challenge

Please if you have not yet entered the give-away go here and sign up!!

Today I am winding up the A to Z Blogging Challenge. I have shared with you some of the lessons I have learned in life. Like how marrying my best friend gave me more than 35 years of a good life with a great man. I reminded us that we should Practice What We Preach. Because the kiddos are watching. I told you why Umbrellas Should Be Handy. We talked about how Life Isn't Fair

I want to wind it all up with Zippers Will Get Stuck. Yep, just when you think you are going to make it out the door on time. The zipper won't work. Or you are putting on your heavy coat and the zipper is stuck halfway up.

Like Murphy's Law. You know the one: Anything that can possibly go wrong, does!

Or like the saying Shit Happens! Because in everyone's life Shit does Happen! No matter how wonderful their Facebook status is. Shit is happening in their life too. They just don't talk about it. And all of those big bloggers who only write about the 'good life.' Yeah right is what I say.

I see the cup as half-empty! I know that if something can go wrong, it will. I know that Shit happens! And I know that Zippers get Stuck. We just have to learn how to deal with all of it. At age 64 I am still learning.

How about YOU? What are some of your life's lessons. Any zippers getting stuck over your way?

  1. So enjoyed your A/Z Paula :) Lots of good life lessons you shared with us :) I'm a half glass empty person myself. One thing I learned in life is if I'm running late for something, I'll catch every single red light to get there. I've learned to relax and in those cases, rare as they are since I don't like to me late, its okay to be late rather than be impatient at a light I have no control of.

Also have learned that even though it is tough going at times, God keeps his promises and doesn't leave us nor foresake us.

Now on to next year's challenge :) I already think I have a theme :)

    1. Thank you Betty for following along with me for the A to Z. And for all the time too! I am learning to try to let go of things. And to not let the bad times get me down. Hard when you are a cup half empty person. But I'm working on it

  2. Like Betty just said, I'm a half-empty gal myself. Expect nothing and ya shall not be disappointed. Right?
Today wasn't exactly pleasant, so I won't try and draw any examples. It's just comforting to know I'm not the only one who doesn't get those whose everything is 'lollipops and roses.'

  3. Lots of zippers get stuck in my life, as I work for a uniform service. LOL But seriously, I tend to see the glass half FULL. Yet, I do believe, and have experienced, that into every life some rain will fall. Some people wear it on their sleeves, others hide it away. But each of us has burdens we bare, regrets we carry, Problems that just jump up before us when we least expect it.

  5. YAY!! We are done. I feel like we survived a marathon of sorts. You had some wonderful and beautiful lessons along the way of this challenge. My cup is always half full. I have too much sadness and bad things that happen to my family , friends and myself. I would get too bogged down and depressed if I allowed to think half empty. Call it rose colored glasses maybe but I prefer to put smile on my face and plow through.
Either way- I met some great new bloggers like you and I am so happy for that!

  7. I've really enjoyed following along with you, Paula and although I am a glass probably three-quarters full most of the time I think my post today is about the zipper getting stuck so we are on the same wave-length with that one!! I do feel I've achieved this year so plenty of Zzzzzz earned now :) Special Teaching at Pempi’s Palace

  8. If the glass is half empty or half full it just means there's room in the glass for a bit more, although we shouldn't overdo it! As for zips...as a child I got a "certain part of my anatomy" caught in my zip. Ow! It ended in a trip to the local hospital where a clever nurse just snipped down the material sides of the zip so it came apart. Lesson learned. Well done for getting to the end of the A to Z Challenge.

  9. I have tend to be a glass half full person, but I must say that I like Louis Zamperini's perspective about that phrase. Louis Zamperini is the WWII survivor who was the subject of "Unbroken." At the beginning of his book "Don't Give Up, Don't Give In: Lessons From An Extraordinary Life" he said, "An optimist says 'The glass is half full.' A pessimist says, 'The glass is half empty. A survivalist is practical. He says, 'Call it what you want, but just fill the glass.' I believe in filling the glass."

    1. Love the quote. Loved the book!! And we just saw the movie this past weekend. He was a heck of a guy. What a survivor! If Louie could do it, then surely I can. I'm am off to fill my glass. Thanks Gram

  10. Yay, Paula, your a to z has been great!!!! I get very frustrated with bloggers who make it look like everything is perfect and they can do 8 millions things at once, and everything is just wonderful. I much prefer honesty and openness.

  11. Yes zippers get stuck for me everyday. But life goes on for me. Make the best out of it. I enjoyed your a-z posts. Hope you have a great day.

  12. Or zippers will fail for no good reason. In the middle of the day. While you're at work. And you can't go home and change. (And you're in a middle school class, so that makes it all that much worse.)

I try to look at the positive. I don't always succeed, but it's what you focus on that matters.

    1. I am working on that positive stuff. But after 60+ years of not always thinking positive it takes me longer than some.

  13. Hi Paula - life can be so challenging ... and the why me syndrome pops up ... I did learn to say to say to myself - only another hurdle and in a while I'll have forgotten about it ... and that happens - just a nuisance the inconveniences of life ... and we're so much better off than so many - that brings me back to earth ...

Good luck - things will settle much more ... take care and we're here for you .. and well done on finishing off the A - Z .... cheers Hilary
