Monday Memories

I used to follow a blog that did Monday Memories but she doesn't seem to be blogging any more so I'm going to continue to share my memories right here...on Monday!

This is one of my favorite pictures of Darian and Richard together. In May 2011 we were the very, very lucky recipients to an all expense paid trip to Walt Disney World with our (the ones living with us) grandchildren. It was given to us by an anonymous donor from the church where the kids go. We flew down, stayed 10 days in an awesome condo, had a rental car to get around in, a rental scooter for Richard, and all the entry tickets into the four parks. A very impressive gift!!

On this particular day we were in Epcot. We had just ridden Soarin and Darian purchased a "pilots wings" pin that said 'I love my Papa' Harley is pointing at it in this picture. There is so much love in both of their eyes. We will always savor the memories of Walt Disney World. It was our last vacation trip for Papa had a stroke 4 months later.

Have you visited Walt Disney World and do you have special memories?

  1. Another great photo, Paula! We have been to Disney and Soarin was such a cool experience. What a wonderful gift to your family. God blesses us all in so many ways. I am sure the giver as equally as blessed as you were. Hope you have a good day!

  5. What a wonderful gift for you and your family, Paula! It sounded like lots of fun with great memories like you said and the kids are old enough to remember the memories too! Such a sweet picture of Richard and Darian!

Never been to Disney World, but we live close (2 hours) to Disneyland so have been there quite a few times :) I think best memories is when taking the kids there for the first time and seeing it through their eyes :)

    1. When I was married the first time we took my boys, then ages 2 and 6, to Disneyland. They have no memory of it at all. It was a wonderful gift. One we will always cherish the memories from

  6. Look at those adorable cheeks! (OK, Darian is probably mortified that I just wrote that. Sorry, Darian.)
When the 'ex' and I moved to Florida he was still tight with the folks at Monsanto ... hence, we were able to get discounted tickets when family and friends came to visit. You might imagine, it didn't take very long before I grew sick tired of it. I think every child should see one of the Disney parks, but fear their increasing admissions are making that an impossibility for lots of families.

    1. I love his cheeks too Myra. Yes, I can imagine how tired you would get of Disney if you lived close.

  7. What a great picture!! And how awesome of a gift was a paid vacation - great memories! We go to Disney almost every year. It's actually an almost daily topic at our house. "Momma, the next time we go to Disney World, I'm going to....."

  8. What an amazing gift! I've been more than a few times, but Disney was never my favorite. On the other hand, I could go to Busch Gardens--The Dark Continent in Tampa every weekend and never get tired of it. I wish we had gone one last time before we left Florida. We are far, far, far away from any sort of theme park her in New Mexico, that's for sure.

    1. It was an extraordinary special gift to our family. Something that Richard and I could never have done for Darian and Harley. I will be forever grateful to that generous person who gave the gift to us!!
