What's In My Cup?

I am linking up with Love Happy Daily for a Blog Everyday in May Challenge. She has a good list of prompts for each day so it will be fun to share and see what others are answering. I always enjoy meeting new people as well.

Today our prompt is:

What's in your cup?

I get up every morning and make a full pot of Folgers Classic coffee. I have been drinking Folgers coffee for all of my life. All the way back to stealing sips of coffee from my mom's cup. I used to drink it black. But something happened to my taste buds after I quit smoking and I can't stand the taste of black coffee anymore. (Isn't that weird?) Now my coffee is laced with French Vanilla Cream. I use our store brand as it is my favorite. The mug above is my favorite. The kids bought it for me when we visited Walt Disney World (back before our lives turned upside down). On the handle it says "GRANDMA". Papa has one just like it....except his is green inside and says "GRANDPA" on the handle.

  1. I love your favorite mug, how special! Folger's coffee makes me think my Granny. That's the kind she loved and she loaded it with lots of cream until it was caramel colored! I love the smell of coffee, but I don't like the taste.

  4. I used to not be able to go without a cup of coffee. But I found that when I didn’t have the caffeine I’d wind up with a horrible headache. Eventually, I cut back and now I don’t drink it at all. Only de-caff green tea for me.
But I have to tell you, your coffee looks mighty tasty!

  6. Near and dear to my heart! I used not to be able to stomach coffee without lots of cream and sugar ... 'til one day my 'ex' and I were at a fancy company dinner: The creamer and sugar were out of reach, and I was too bashful to ask anyone to pass it our way. The upshot, I'm an addict of strong, black brew ... with no plans to quit.
Annnyway, what made me smile was your mention of your sweet cup. Each of my mugs has a special memory associated with it; I've even differing cups for each day of the week - presuming my mood. :)

  8. I am really open minded about everything - not into labels or fancy stuff ....

    except for my coffee.

My husband and I describe ourselves as coffee snobs! (I think everyone should be a snob about one thing in life :-) ). Anyway, my coffee of choice is Green Mountain Coffee and I drink it with cream and splenda in the morning. I used to drink it all day long and after 12 I would drink it black because I like it both ways - two different drinks. But now I am trying to cut back and I only drink it in the morning. We get our Green Mountain Coffee delivered (isn't that what coffee snobs should do??) but if we run out before the next delivery, we get Duncun Donuts Medium Blend in the 1 1/2 lb bag.

That is probably more than you wanted to know about my coffee habits hahaha!

  9. I'm a French vanilla girl too, although right now I'm treating myself with the Girl Scout Cookie Thin Mint creamer. I figure I deserve a little splurge with the month I'm having!!! Love the mug...such a special story and a wonderful daily reminder for you.

    1. I haven't tried that one. I have seen it in the department next to my French Vanilla but I haven't given it a try. I hope the month of May is kinder to all of us!!

  11. I lose my taste for coffee when I'm sick because it tastes terrible to me, although I haven't heard of smoking doing that--as for your enjoyment of black coffee anyway.

    1. I think it is probably just a little old idiosyncrasy of mine...
