How Many More Random Facts are There?

July 17

Tell seven random facts about yourself

I have told more than a ton of random facts about myself over the years of writing this blog. Now let me think a moment to see if I can come up with 7 more.....

  1. I can't help myself....when I am about half-way through a really good book, I have to read the last page. It is just a sickness that I have. Might have something to do with my next random fact
  2. I don't like surprises....not of the birthday kind. Not visitors that show up unannounced. Not movie endings, tv show endings, book endings. No surprises. Isn't that crazy?
  3. I don't really care all that much for ice cream. I will eat it. But I don't crave it. And often if we go out for ice cream I will get a slush or something like that!
  4. I can't stand the smell of burning wood. Bad memories of a week without heat and electricity following an ice storm a few years ago and we only could heat with our wood burning fireplace. Was a very stressful 7 days and the smell of burning wood brings it all back.
  5.  When I was a second grader I won the class spelling bee. I advanced to the all school spelling bee where I couldn't spell dishes . What the heck! How did I ever make it to the all school bee?
  6. I am a Registered nurse and I have NOT  been to the doctor in more than 5 years. Now is that because I am very healthy or just irresponsible. I'll let you decide!
  7. I love the reality TV show Big Brother. How adult is that? Not very, I know. But I really get into all the bickering, backstabbing and bashing that goes on. This year, however, I am fed up with the racial BS that has been happening.

  1. I don't like surprises, either! Nope, not at all. I didn't start this seasons Big Brother, which I normally love, but after all of the bad I've heard, I'm ok that I am missing it!

    1. Yep, it is rather bad with all the racial things being said. I am very disappointed that ABC has not pulled these people out of the house

  2. On sweet friend make a doctors appointment would ya? I have borderline high blood pressure and my doctor makes me come every three months to monitor it. I go to the neurologist twice a year and the gyono yearly. Lots of doctors visits!! Enough for us both :)

  3. Congrats on the spelling bee, I was awful at spelling things out loud, visual I think need to see it to know if it's spelled wrong. I agree on surprises, I think it assumes your life is open for others to do whatever...with birthdays or popping in. They don't know if you've had a bad day and just want quiet etc. I love a wood fire, sorry you had a bad week of no heat. We had a kerosene heater we used a few years back for almost a week when a winter storm came through...wonder if it was the same year.

  4. My mom also hates surprises ... they cause her enormous anxiety. She once walked out on a surprise party my aunt threw for her when I was young. Just recently, I had to explain her phobia to the library association when they wanted me to bring her to a banquet dinner to surprise her with an award she received. It's really hard for most people to understand. You are the first person I've heard of to have the same problem, even though it doesn't sound like it's as bad for you.

    1. I was so mad at my husband for throwing me a surprise birthday party on my 30th that I almost walked out. But I didn't. It would have hurt his feelings too badly so I stayed. He hasn't tried to surprise me since though. I don't know why, I just don't like surprises

    1. That's right. And it takes my mind off of what my REAL life is all about

  6. I have never peeked at the end of a book. I don't like surprises like real-life surprises but I like the literary (books, movies, TV) kind. I don't eat ice cream all that often but I love it. I also love Big Brother--I haven't missed a season! This year's contestants aren't very interesting. Yet. And the racial thing is... well, there will be repercussions.

  7. Re numbers 1&2- i always read the last page, i cant help it. I also don't appreciate surprised but of all of them the 'pop in' is the worst. So not a fan of the pop in. Common courtesy to ring first. We have a wood burning fire and one of the things i love most is the smell. We have not had to pay for heating for 30 years and with Hub being a builder there is always plenty of wood.

  10. Oh wow!! I do that too. Check a head to the end of a book to see "who did it."

I find it adds to my enjoyment of the book in a rather technical way - I like to see how the author weaves the story right to the end watching the "bad guy", and how he or she evolves and is discovered. You can learn a lot about the strengths and weakness of the author as a story teller. I LOVE doing that!!!

  13. I also read the last few pages of books. I don't like surprises either. I even help plan my own "surprise party". I'm not big on ice cream either, or any dairy for that matter. don't even get me started on going to the doctor. Can't stand it. I had a physical a few years ago, I was in tip top shape then, so not much could be too wrong...lol

  14. I don't like surprises or ice cream either. And, I, too, skip to the end of a book. Especially if it's not very good, and I just want to get through it. :-)

  15. I'm not sure I would finish reading a book if I knew beforehand how it would end. I don't like surprises either.
